I used to have the same problem; meditation doesn't come easily to everybody. To help get started, perhaps you could look into a guided meditation audio to help you focus on one specific thing at a time, and push away some of the clutter?

It sounds to me like you're definitely empathetic. Any meditation/spiritual guidance is a new experience, so it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. If your empathy gets a bit too much for you in a certain place, you can try cleansing the area (if it's a house or office) with sage, and that will help rid...
