Yes, I'm a neophyte but I had some recurring issues going on in dreams. Who doesn't, right? Recently I had come across the concept of the "shadow self," which I understand is your evil alter-ego. As usual, my thing is dreamland and since at least 2006, I can recall some disturbing trends.
Before you decide to smile politely and walk quietly away without reading on, keep in mind that usually my dreams are quite pleasant. Some may even call them "trippy."
It appears to run in the family, from my mother's side. So many family members have mentioned "demon in the mirror" dreams. The common theme is going into the bathroom during this dream, looking in the mirror, and seeing the devil (or demon) with glowing red eyes. In one instance, a relative said she could see him standing behind her. He was all darkness, all black, with the red eyes. Another said all she could see was total black except for the red eyes, and a black hand brandishing a Bible in front of her with this giggle as though taunting her. I guess I just thought it would not happen to me.
Then in the spring of 2006, I dreamed I was looking into the bathroom mirror. The lights were out, but I saw the glowing red eyes. Then I heard laughing, sort of reminded me of the laughs of the ghostly trio in the old Casper cartoons. Then the lights came on. It was me, with glowing red eyes and a warped, sardonic smile. I was having a hammy good time seeing what sort of scary faces I can make as I did my laugh.
Since then, I notice a pattern. What bothers me is sometimes it happens when I realize I am dreaming. This dingle-berry takes over and I hate it! I remember being something between four and five feet tall. My legs feel shorter than normal, my arms feel longer. I cannot talk, just garble (reminds me of Rico in Penguins of Madagascar). It seems I do not truly intend trouble to be malevolent and cause serious harm, but it is more like someone with a warped sense of humor as I hop around making mischief.
Last week, I had one where I was along a roadside in some desert area in this almost chimp-like body (with my red eyes) and I saw cars going by. I kept hopping up and down, laughing and flapping my arms at the cars with that weird garble coming from my throat. I was getting a giggle out of the reaction from scaring the drivers.
Well, if it is my Sister Hyde shadow self, at least she's just an irritating twirp for the most part. Then again, it's always funny until someone loses an eye, so to speak.
Oh Holy Hamsteak! Is this my Shadow Self?

The shadow self is the place where you store all the emotions, thoughts and actions you don't want to deal with.
It is where you repress things and push things back inside of you.
It is typically seen as all those things about yourself that you may not be ready to come to terms with.
For example traits like: Greed, selfishness, pettyness, clingyness, jealousy, sexual 'deviancies' etc.
I've never heard of someone who has a shadow self who is just rather mischievous, but everyones shadow self is different.
Mine has red eyes too, so it could be yours.
The purpose of the shadow self is to accept those aspects of yourself and those events and what not.
It helps you to reach your higher self.
