Recommend your fave witchcraft books please

Hi,

I have seen spellbooks and 'witchcraft exposed' ebooks. The reviews on Amazon confuse me. Some things look too commercial, like a scam. So I have not purchased any books yet. Does anyone have a good spellbook? Or more than spells...I don't know what else there is. I know that there are safety concerns too. My main goal is self improvement, protection, and having fun.

Its Ok if it is a heavy read, I rather know too much than not enough. Just because I am new, doesn't mean I am just interested in 'beginner's only' books. I really like to delve into the topics I study. This is something that I think could be used in many areas of life.

All comments are appreciated,

Sorry, I have another question.

Sometimes, when I look online for easy spells, I change the words. my words made it more specific to me. I think it felt better to me that way. Is there a book about Timing, Moons, gods/goddesses, and how to write your own spells? I would really love that.

thanks,

You know what I did when I first got into this stuff? I went to my local library and checked out every book that was about new age, psychic, spiritual, spirit guides, astral travel, or related topics and read them all. You sound a lot like me, as far as really wanting to absorb as much knowledge as possible. There are witchcraft books with the info you asked about. I know some of Silver Ravenwolf's books have that info, but I'm going to let someone else recommend books like that because it's been a long time since I read witchcraft books, even though I have many of them. Now I mostly read spiritual books. I highly recommend reading anything that is related to the topics I mentioned above. Witchcraft books are okay, but the other books are really better in my opinion and will teach you so much more. I'm sure you will really enjoy them a lot.

I don't like "witchcraft exposed". They are a very shady company. The way their sites are set up (which is very hard to explain) prove to me that they are only in this for the money. I really doubt if they actually know much about the subject although it's easy enough to put an e-book together by stealing content from other people's sites. They stole content from my site before, but the way they did it is very complex and hard to explain, but it certainly left a bad taste in my mouth about them. I reported them to Google, but nothing happened. I'm on their email list now too since I wrote them threatening emails. I guess they just take anyone's address they can get a hold of and spam them. Like I said, they are pretty shady, and you already had a feeling about them being too commercial and a scam, which is true, so trust your intuition.

There are tons of spells on my site, over 100. They are all free. The links in my signature line will take you there. Those are spells I have collected from all over. I have only wrote one of them myself, so I can't tell you whether they all work or not. That is something you have to decide for yourself (as well as deciding whether they are "right" for you to cast.)

Also, if there is a used bookstore near your home, check that out. We have a place called McKay's Used Books, and it has a ton of books on spirituality and occult and they are SO CHEAP. All their books are cheap. I love that place.

Yes, it wise to follow the moon for spellwork. From the new moon to the the waxing full, it is an expansive time and this is used for spells that ADD to your wishes. The waning moon is a time for shedding, so do not try any prosperity spells during these 2 weeks. This is used for things like banishment spells or anything that you wish to shed. It is good to give back in some way during the waning moon.

The days of the week are also quite important and one should utilize the planetary energies associated with that day. Here's a brief list:

Monday: The Moon; best for emotionally based spellwork, such us attracting confidence and intuition, clairvoyance etc..

Tuesday; Mars; great for spells to inspire passion and energy such as a spell to boost confidence. Mars is a warrior, so if you need a spiritual battle, this is the day for it.

Wednesday; Mercury; Great for communication (worldly or otherwise). Good for spells involving the granting of information. Like Willow in Buffy when she says "Reveal!"

Thursday: Jupiter; probably the best day for spell work as Jupiter is so benevolent and loves to give. All prosperity spells or luck and success spells should be done on this day (be sure to keep it with the waxing moon).

Friday: Venus. . .ahhh, sweet love. This is a day for love spells and also a good day to offer your love to the gods/goddesses of choice. As the Cure say, "Friday, I'm in Love!"

Saturday: Saturn. A restrictive energy. Good for banishing spells and ridding old energies. Binding spells are also potent on this day. Also good for focusing and developing patience (something a lot of witches don't have). Typically, I do not do spells on Saturdays unless it is to get rid of unwanted energies or desires.

Sunday: The Sun; Truth in all matters. The sun is great for truth spells and generating warmth in your heart. If you feel that you are frigid inside and holding tons of resentment, use the Sun energy on Sundays to shine through a cloudy heart.

Hope this helps,

Blessings,

bsp

Great info Chris! Do you mind if I post that on my website? Should I give credit to you, or did you get that from somewhere else? If you want me to credit you, what name should I use?

Hi ,

Thanks for the honour. Ya, I just wrote that off the top of my head. Just post it and give no one credit as information like this doesn't "belong" to anybody. It is merely an amalgam of a lot of stuff I've done with magic and astrology. I forgot to mention that Monday and Tuesday (Moon and Mars) are best suited for PROTECTION SPELLS. Blessings to you and Ron and I hope that your day together is full of light and love.

With spirit,

Thanks,

I am going to look into the good magic book. Thanks you so much for that title.

BSP, I am a student of astrology also. The daily energies and moon cycles are very important. I can feel it too, can't you? Once you are Open to these energies, you really start to become very aware of it. Its great. I will try these all out and also start to create some of my own spell ideas from scratch. i am very excited.

, my library did not have much on witchcraft. I already read all their spiritual, astrology, numerology, metaphysical books. In this conservative little town, I'm in, I think they are keeping an eye on me now. lol. My friend told me to stop. Lol. Oh well.

lol, I'm in a smallish town too and I felt very conspicuous checking out all the books on those subjects so I know how you feel. But the people there don't know me personally, so I don't worry about it. It's great that you have read everything they have available on spirituality, etc. Free books are the best books, lol.

I don't even try the library at my home town. Our school board banned several books from our high school because of 'foul and inapproriate language'. The school boarder who decided to raise this issue has never read any of the books (including 'Of Mice and Men') and has a daughter known that is viewed through a neon light, if you understand. If I dared step into that place with even the hint of getting something spiritual that didnt have the word 'King James Version' on it... I dont think I'd make it out of town lol.

You could try "the idiots guide to wicca and witchcraft" and I've seen another one out by them called "the idiots guide to wicca crafting" but I haven't looked at that one yet though. They are pretty basic, but it could give you an idea of what other topics to want to investigate more indepth. *Shrugs*

Yeah, I've heard bad reviews about that e-book, witchcraft exposed. I don't even know why people are buying it.

I can make a better e-book... maybe I should!

Idiot's guide to Wicca and Witchcraft is a good book, and I hear Scott Cunningham's books are, too. I don't have his Wicca one, but I think I read it once. I have his herbs book and oil book.

I'm reading a good book I borrowed from a friend called, "The Circle Within," by Dianne Sylvan (she's got a website with info, too).

The book, however, is more suited for people who know the craft basics. It's more on the spiritual side of Witchcraft.

There's tons of books on spells and all that, I usually don't bother with them. There's a lot more to the craft that spells.

One of my friends have a book called, "The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells: The Ultimate Reference Book for the Magical Arts," by Judika Illes. I have never read the book, but she says it has some good info.

She made me some ink from the book, which was neat. She's also made other things, like oils and stuff from the book. I hear it's good.

good luck,

Yes, I have the Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells, and it is pretty good. What is best about it is the price! A 900 page book for under $30! There are all kinds of cool books for witchcraft. D.J. Conway's "Celtic Magic." ANother one I keep returning is a cute little book by Valerie Worth called "Crone's Book Charms and Spells" (I like making talismens and this book has lots!). FOr the herbalist in you, try "The Wicca Herbal" by Jamie Wood, or Patricia Telesco's "A Floral Grimoire." If you are into the history of and theory of witchcraft try "Three Books Of Occult Philosophy", Donald Tyson ed. Of course, there are way more books to try, but these ones are quite informative. Enjoy!

You could try "the idiots guide to wicca and witchcraft"
thats a good basic book. It's one of the first book I bought about wicca.
Never regret anything, because at one point ...it was exacly what you wanted!
