on at least 2 occasions I have had dreams in starring ghosts.
In the first dream. Which I actually had a couple of years ago. I dreamt that I was in the dining roome holding a seance. I was using an old candle stick that belonged to my great-grandma that had dangling crystals on it, and I would tell her to move the crystals in response to what I said. At one point the crystals were almost horizontal. Then when I started asking her how she died I felt something around my neck. When I looked, I saw a black scarf. I woke up after that. That was the same night in which I actually saw a female spirit in the dining room of my house.
Then last night I had a dream that was very frightening. It happened in two parts.
Part 1: I'm laying in bed, it's night time, the room is dark, and I'm half asleep. I hear what sounds like Cas calling my name. I reach for him and he's not there. As I wake up a bit more I realize that I'm slightly levitating a few inches off the bed. Then all of a sudden I feel something grab me by my ankles and start pulling me off the bed. I look to see who is pulling me off the bed and there is no one there. I fight and struggle to break free and claw my way back up to the head of the bed. I do manage to break free and I make my way back up the bed.
Part 2: I wake up (I am actually still sleeping) and think "Oh what a scary dream". I notice that I am laying alone in bed. I look and see the first lights of morning peeking through the closed curtians (it is actually still dark though). I try to sit up and realize that I can't Something is pinning me to the bed. I try to scream for help but I it's a struggle just to whisper. I try to fight it off of me, but whatever is pinning me down is just too heavy. I try to kick it, but there is nothing to kick. I can feel the weight that is pressing on my chest is getting heavier and heavier and pressing down harder and harder. Then i see part of a glowing green skull floating in the air just off the foot of my bed. I wake up (for real this time).
Ghost dreams
Can't say on the dream about the seance, but "part 1" and especially "part 2" read like classic textbook cases of sleep paralysis. It is scary, seems very real. I actually bruised up the back of my hand once trying to do a backhand punch at one of those things that came up by the side of the bed (and my hand slammed into a piece of furniture by the bed). It can happen because of a number of things, such as emotional stress or not getting enough sleep to begin with.
I used to get similar levitation dreams like that, too, and of being pulled up suddenly through the ceiling. After exercises in lucid dreaming, I could make the whole thing outright trippy. Remember the movie "Constantine," when he gives Lucifer the finger as he floats out the window? I sort of did that a few times, floating out my window to go enjoy the ride.

It's like walking down an empty street, listening to your own footsteps. But all you have to do is knock on any door and say, "If you'll let me in, I'll live the way you want me to live. And I'll think the way you want me to think." And all the blinds will go up, and all the doors will open, and you'll never feel lonely. Ever again.
