Orishas and witchcraft
I am a baby witch as my wife calls me and I have alot of questions about orishas and there place in witchcraft. I have a teacher and i am going threw his studies but i am at a crossroads of sorts. I have found while looking for, researching, and meditating over what deity is calling me that I have had many visions of OYA and change in my life. Visions of going down a path that was shaded and meeting an african women who said stop running from my fears. I have asked my teacher many times is it possible to use orishas from Yoruba in witchcraft with out it being santeria, condumble, or voodoun. He doesn't know. So i am searching all over for that answer and I don't know where to turn. Can anyone help direct me to where i can go to get some knowledge on this? Or is there anyone out there who uses Orishas and is a witch or practices witchcraft. Please help. Thanks. What an introduction!

Re: Orishas and witchcraft
Well Welcome.
The answer to your question can be quite complex and individual. If you have worked with Orisa in a past life or you have ancestors who have then it will be easier for you. This especially applies if you have Yoruba ancestors. If you don't have an ancestor connection then you need to see a priest or priestess. I advise you to proceed with extreme caution and respect, especially with Oya.

You are either for Life or against It. There is no in between.

There's some information about the Orishas there.
I believe, that because they are African deities, you can practice witchcraft and honor them like any other Goddess and God.

Re: Orishas and witchcraft
thank you both for your reply. I don't have any living ancestors or relatives that could help me but i don't know my grandmother practice something. I would think santeria because she was from puerto rico and had tons of saints and candles on an alter in her house. I will look around for a priest or priestess in santeria and see where it can take me. thanks again
