So I am sure that many of us have had clear and vivid dreams, dreams where you can "feel" it is a past experience, or gaining some sort of intuition from your subconscious.
For as along as I can remember, but having becoming more prominent in the last 6 months. And I don't just mean "Oh wow my dream seemed so real" but I actually feel as if I am living out Another Life in my dreams.
In these dreams I experience an entire range of events, from normal daily things (getting ready, worrying about studying, seeing friends, to saving the world) But the events are so convincing that I wake not believing the didn't occur.
Whether I am myself (physically) or physically different my personality never changes in these dreams. And many times I awake feeling confused and unaware of my surrounding.
Being in MD school, we learn a lot about the brain and dreams, hallucinations etc etc....
And one suggestion is that dreams become more vivid if there is
1) lack of adequate oxygen during sleep
2) lack of sleep leading to deep REM
3) cortical disturbances leading to hallucinations
SO what do you guys think?
What are your opinions? Completely physiological, normal reactions of the body and brain, or something more....
Dreams, a parallel life, something more....
Re: Dreams, a parallel life, something more....
I can't wait to hear peoples responses- I have been experiencing this - in fact I told my hubby I feel like I am in another world when I dream. I wake exhausted because in the other world it's not a pretty situation, I am always struggling, fighting, running and trying to help and protect others.

I guess there are many other things that lead to a deeper REM state. Also you are also dreaming in NREM-states, you just can't remember those states well. Studies which woke people up in both states and compared the dreams mentioned NREM-dreams are more vivid, happier and contain less people/story. I know those dreams, I'm always walking through the most beautiful and detailed forests. Those dreams have a different quality, feel different, look different, are different.
So if you have one of those dreams, it's probably one of the rare occasions you remember your NREM-dream (probably cause you were disturbed and woke up). I am more the scientific person there
I don't think I'm wandering in other worlds in my dreams (at least not by accident), but those dreams always give me the stuff I need to enter into other worlds. And I wouldn't deny you maybe can glimps on other worlds in your dreams
