The triforce also was once a symbol of the triple goddess. Yes, Ocarina of time has some pagan beliefs mixed into it. You have the people of water (Zoras) aka water elemental, the people of fire (gorons), the people of earth (kokiri) and the people of air (hylians).

I know this is an old post but I wanted to contribute more. You aren't the only one who thought of this.

In "The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past", The light and dark world represents the Yin and Yang in life. The world is the same but it is light and dark. In real life, you can see the world as being a positive place (Yang) or a negative place (Yin).

In Zelda 64 (Ocarina Of Time) the horse's name is Epona. Epona is the Celtic horse god. On Link's Shield and on Zelda's Dress you will notice that the Triforce is underscored by a red bird ascending or perhaps supporting the Triforce. This bird is very similar to Native American depictions of the Condor God as well as the historical reference of the phoenix, a bird that rises from the ashes of its former self to be reborn anew.

Nayru (Goddess of Wisdom) reminds me of Aquarius (The water bearer). Aquarius has wisdom and likes to pour water.

The story of "The Great Flood" is also in Zelda.

Din (Goddess of Power) reminds me of the mountain god Yahweh. He uses the fire and the volcano to his advantage to get people. Also is in charge of dances.

Farore (Goddess of Courage) reminds me of "Fata" (Diana), who is the goddess of fate. The name "Fata" it self came into English as "fate" and "fairy". Farore is in charge of the Kokori and the Forest and is manifested as a wind or breeze bringing life/fate to all.
