New experience during meditation

I frequently do some form of meditation. Whether to clear my mind after a rough day at work, to prepare for an exam in school, or to experience something spiritually. Tonight I was attempting to find a solid direction for myself spiritually. I began with fixation on a candle and a chant I particularly enjoy. Then after I got my mind to a good place I snuffed the flame and began to feel deeper thoughts in the darkness of the night in my bedroom. However, one of my cats, my dog, and one of my birds felt the need to be loud and obnoxious. I began to get irritated ::darkmood:: as my concentration was failing.
After attempting to get rid of the animals, I decided to go into another room. After another few minutes chanting to myself I suddenly felt the urge to put my hand out as if I were catching a basketball. I felt something. But, it wasn't anything physical, yet it had substance. With my eyes closed I could see this rolling ball of different colors in my hands. I could feel an incredible warmth and almost a magnetic push/pull in my hands during this. Then I felt led to bring it to my face and "breathe it in" so I did. As I breathed in this non-physical yet tangible ball of rolling colors I felt an incredible sense of well-being and love flow into my body. Then I felt led to take the ball of colors to my solar plexus. It merged with me, I didn't see it as much as feel it. I have received Reiki before, and that is what this felt like when it merged into me. Then I just took a few deep breaths and came back.
I have experienced visions before during meditation, but never something like this; never something tangible like this. I've felt peace and warmth, but this was different.
Any ideas as to just what exactly I just experienced?
