Gods and Goddesses Conflict

Postby AirSpirit » Sun Jun 19, 2011 4:20 pm

I am not sure why I am very reluctant to follow a god or goddess,

The question is, must I? I am not at all religious in any way, and reject all religion. I do follow element magik and am very connected to the Air element.

I am beginning some higher work with my guide, and feel a little blocked. I wonder if it is because I do not have any connection with a god or goddess. The idea just does not seem right for me, to worship a god or goddess. I really do not wish to, but is this somehow blocking me? Could this be hindering my spiritual and magik work?

Who ever said worshiping a deity was required? Your path is your own, should you wish to not worship a deity of any sort that is your choice. Not every pagan does. The only thing that can block you magickally is you. Having or not having a deity in your practices is a not a hinderance unless you wish it to be conciously or subconsiously.

i had exactly this same predicament but kindly the people on here assured my that it does not matter. i do acknowledge the sun and the moons power but not as deity. i dont think its hindered me in any way. although i do not believe in gods and goddesses i have had a strange sense of something recently which has confused me all over again.

Air,

Nothing in any realm is set in stone or set with rules. Those will only block you. In the pre-christian era, there were so many different branches of people following different paths, some with deities, some without, all had a similar bond in that they were following a path to bring them stability and a higher feeling within.

Personally, I dropped all religion in turn for learning about all the different religions and what bound them all together. At the end of it, what I had learned was that, no one religion or diety was 'right' or 'wrong' per se. It was what you felt connected to. Myself, I let go of a hierachy system in my mind and simply accepted there is an infinite range of powerful entities beyond this viel we exist in and that to simply learn and grow and try to learn with a totally open mind to see what ultimately will surface without looking for 1 particular thing was the most eye opening way to learn. Was the most eye opening experience I ever had.

Thank you all so much. I feel I may just be able to free myself from this conflict now. I do appreciate and admire the Gods and Godesses, although I know that a hierachy system is also not right for me. Rather, as you point out Ghadamon, there are many powerful forces generating among the higher realm. My work is to gain insight, understanding, power and strength among the spiritual realm, to fulfill myself as an autonomous spirit.
