The Whammy

Postby Peregrine » Wed May 25, 2011 3:37 pm

Somehow I feel like I got the whammy again not too long ago. As usual, this happened in dreamtime.

I have had a huge fixation over the past year on Sumerian Mythology. The one who especially grasped my attention has been Enki. I am not sure what to make of this dream but it was exciting for me just the same.

I was sitting by the shoreline in the middle of the day. I looked into the water and noticed a group of sea horses. They were in a circle and "dancing" in the water, moving and spinning in synchrony to some happy tune that I could faintly hear. I thought to myself that I will get my camera and get a video (pictures) of this. Then I noticed something startled them all. They swam around me and went behind me.

I turned around and noticed a river behind me. I realized I was at the point where a river flows into the ocean. The sea horses had gone swimming upstream. Feeling slightly frustrated and disappointed, I thought to myself, "Oh well. I guess I WON'T be getting on camera." Then I turned around and looked up to see what startled the sea horses away. A huge cubicle-shaped item had floated ashore, just a few feet from where I was sitting.

I flinched and that woke me up. It would have been nice to see what came out of that vessel. Something in me, to this day, is so frustrated, like "Go back to sleep you fool and finish that dream!" I feel upset and angry that I was disappointed not to get pictures of the sea horses and missed the obvious. I had been scouring ancient Sumerian mythology off and on over the past year and totally missed on major thing in those cuniform tablets. Enki's palace is shaped like a giant cube and it was believed he set up his palace at the point where the river flows into the sea.

Still, what was with the sea horses? I'm normally good at interpreting my own dreams but I don't know what to make of this. That and I want to see Enki. Me and my stupid short sightedness sometimes. :(
It's like walking down an empty street, listening to your own footsteps. But all you have to do is knock on any door and say, "If you'll let me in, I'll live the way you want me to live. And I'll think the way you want me to think." And all the blinds will go up, and all the doors will open, and you'll never feel lonely. Ever again.

Perhaps seahorses are important to you personally, especially if they wanted to warn you about the cubicle. Maybe they're your spirit guides.

I found my own answer a few days after making this post. I don't think the seahorses were warning me, but I did find their possible representations interesting. I used the copy/paste from here.

Magical or ethereal. Having the advantage of being "different" or unique in your environment. Copying, borrowing, or building on ideas from others (as the seahorse "copies" the appearance of the horse). Dreaming of this animal can represent:
•Having too much of one of these qualities, or that you could benefit by being less this way
•Not having enough of one of these qualities, or that you could benefit by being more like this
•Someone or something in your real life with whom you associate one of these qualities (an event, situation, threat, etc.)
For more clues, pay attention to what the animal was doing or any particular characteristic that stood out.

Also around that same time, I was reading message boards concerning the deities of ancient Sumer. A few of them made comments like, "They are gone" or "They are dead." One of them, who liked Enlil, said something like, "Do not try to talk to him. It is just the wind." I felt sad at the words. It must have been on my mind, along with this dream, when I did a tarot card reading for myself (something I have not done in about a year). The cards I used are symbols from Greek Mythology. On the final outcome, the image of the Queen of Wands appeared. Here was the image of Penelope! Penelope, as in the loyal woman who patiently awaited for the return of her husband while she was surrounded by suitors telling her that he was dead, lost at sea. I felt happy after my reading but forgot to come here to say something. Sounds crazy, but I think Enki was reassuring me he is still alive and well. :)
