Connecting with your God/Goddess

Postby Serenity95 » Sat Dec 01, 2012 1:35 am

How do you build a stronger connection with your God/Goddess. I worship Bastet, Artemis, & Jesus ( I know it's taboo to worship the Christian God along with goddess but please don't offend my beliefs & who I worship).

I'm just starting out into Wicca so I don't have much of an altar, all I have are candles to represent them. Do I have to have an altar set out to do rituals &/or bond/connect with them?

I always get the best connection with the gods of my tradition by simply sitting outside. The Goddess can easily be connected with through standing barefoot on the ground, while the God is typically connected with through the sun. Study about the sabbats and esbats and celebrate them. It is through practice, work, time, patience, and study that you will connect with the gods. I recommend reading their mythology stories and discovering things that are sacred to them. Talk to them and meditate on their aspects. Before long, you'll be developing your connection.

May I ask a question? Do you worship Jesus as God or as the son of god? I'm just a curious guy.

Thanks!

I wouldn't say you are Wiccan I'd say you are an eclectic pagan (that way its not as strange to worship Jesus with the goddesses.) Wicca has a few paths with some set rules including for the majority of wiccans a disbelief in Christian deity. Eclectic paganism simply means a mixture of religious paths to form your own brand of faith and worship. :)

You don't have to have a set altar or rituals to connect with your chosen Gods and Goddesses all you need is some quiet time and focus. Meditate in a peaceful place (outside may be better than inside for some.) Specifically ask your deities to come to you so that you can connect to them. Do this multiple times for some it takes months to years before they fully feel it working.

I worship Jesus as the son of God. & thank you Zili for clarifying that for me. :) I'm sorry for sounding a little ignorant about wicca/paganism. Does anyone know about some books I can read/studying that'll help me out a bit? I'd really appreciated the help.

Always remeber you CAN be a Pagan and worship Jesus. Anything by Scott Cunningham is good if you're looking into Wicca.

Scott Cunningham's Guide for the Solitary Practitioner was very accessible for me and the activities I have done from that book "work."

I would also like to recommend Doreen Virtue's Archangels and Ascended Masters. This book depicts Jesus and many deities as Ascended Masters. The exercise for connecting with Jesus is moving.
