

That was my understanding too. I don't know if they even had names for Gods back then. I think she was meant to be a pregnant goddess showing fertility to the world. The most obvious visualization of fertility is a women pregnant with their child. So I can see how that would make them a fertility spirit or being.Hmm. I was under the impression that the Venus of Willendorf is a specific figurine/statue potentially based off a prehistoric Earth Mother figure - a representation of a deity, but not necessarily a deity herself?
