Balance when Honouring various diverse Deities
Re: Balance when Honouring various diverse Deities
For me I call upon or work with them depending on what Im doing. So if Im working on a prosperity ritual I will work with Lakshmi. Anything for protection I call upon Archangel Michael. Healing I call upon Apollo and Archangel Ralphael etc.

Saying a prayer to the different deities at different altars maintained for the separate deities is a good start. Than in actual ritual practice I would do separate rituals with the different gods. I don't use the same ritual with the Norse/Germanic gods than I do the Gods of Witchcraft.

Re: Balance when Honouring various diverse Deities
I have several daily prayers I say. I am working on different prayers for different deities and beings. I have a prayer to my ancestors I say every morning and a slightly different one for the evening. I have a prayer for the spirit of my hearth and home or the landwights which is different in the morning and at night. I also have a prayer I say to the Sun God every day. I am working on a prayer for sunset for saying good night and for saying to the moon Goddess before bed.Hi loona wynd, thanks so much for your response. But would you do this EVERY day or only on certain days? Whilst I'm aware it may not be humanly possible to do so every, single day; I feel sorta guilty when I don't make time for each Deity everyday. I'm open to your opinion in this regard.Saying a prayer to the different deities at different altars maintained for the separate deities is a good start. I use different prayers when working with the Norse deities. Those are typically moment to moment based. If I had an altar set up for them I would have a prayer to them in the morning and evening as well. I may write prayers to individual deities if I am going to be setting up mini shrines to individual deities instead of a Norse general altar.
I have prayers I am learning now for the new tradition I am training in. Those are going to be added into my normal daily prayer practice. Its going to be a different style of prayer than I am used to but its still going to be apart of my daily spiritual practices.
So yes I would do prayers and altar maintenance on a daily basis.

Re: Balance when Honouring various diverse Deities
Your welcome. Thanks for the very detailed post loona wynd.
You may find that you spend more time with one deity or pantheon than another. That is ok. You dont need to give all of them equal attention. If you feel for a while more like connecting with and doing more work with one deity or pantheon than go for it. You can still work with and make time for them all, you just may find that one or two become more present in your lives than others.I have been struggling to come up with a way to honour all my Deities without neglecting any.
I think of that time as my daily devotions. I work with them at that time. I get their energy into my life, and I feel good doing the work. It can be time consuming and it can be a lot of work at first, but I have found it to be very worth while in the end.I like the ideas of having prayers both morning and night, and altar maintenance daily for each.
Thank you. Those posts are there to serve as a guide to help people understand different prayers and different reasons we pray. Prayer is a powerful and effective daily practice. I hope you end up coming up with some awesome prayers for the deities you work with.Speaking of which, I read your posts on Pagan Prayers, they were really informative, I hope to make use of them.

As Loona said above, you can set up individual altars and honor them that way. I am still setting up mini altars to all my guides as I am looking for the right pieces for them all.
I tend to talk with and thank them all for what they do for me in my life daily. Not necessarily in front of their altar. Sometimes I talk to them while Im driving or getting ready in the morning, or even while meditating. But I dont follow any strict rituals etc in my path. I just do what feels right at the time, and what I feel called to do/or am drawn to do.
I think of my deities, angels, guides, etc like part of a tribe or family. So I just talk to them and work with them when I feel called to. I usually only do something big to honor them on special days for them, or if Im working a spell that I need their assistance on.
I think they appreciate that I "keep it real" with them and that we are like friends who just chat all the time. They dont seem to require any big nods of attention of devotion. At least who I work with.
Depends on your relationship with them. Do what feels right for you. Eventually you will find your own way to honor them that works for you and your relationship with them.
