This is just from my own personal experiences with Isis, but I hope I can shed some light on this for you and your friend.
Has she had or ever considered having a past life regression? Sometimes Isis can appear when similar situations and feelings of a past life are resurfacing. She is known to be the mothering High Priestess, but she also reminds me of a very serious business woman the way she can present to you a time of change when necessary. I, myself, did not search for Isis, she found me. She may be coming to your friend to let her know that its time to move forward with what she may be currently dealing with and to let go of past of both conscious and ancient subconscious fears that may be holding her back. Her visitation also could mean that it is time to start delegating and to prepare what lies ahead.Your friend may be in need of what Isis has to offer and she could be offering her assistance or guidance, so it may be time to being your lessons of what she has to offer. She should look deeper into Isis by researching what she stands for. She is a huge symbolic figure for divine knowledge, so she should try to see what she can gain from what she learns from her own personal studies. Either way, I have always been told if she finds you, don't take her presence lightly, she's got big plans for you and she will find ways to let you know accordingly. For starters on acknowledging her presence, I highly recommend that your friend to start wearing silver as gesture to Isis. Silver is sacred to Isis as well as the moon, and she is a moon goddess. She should start charging any silver that she may have in the moonlight as a way of honoring her.

From what I've been told by my friend, who has traveled to Egypt in order to further understand many of the deities, the distinction between Isis and Aset is more of renaming and in a sense kind of memorializing the same deity. Anyone who reads this may correct me if I am wrong, but for the most part they are they same. They may have been turned into separate deities later in history as time has passed, but Aset is the original name of Isis. Isis is more of the Graeco-Roman variation of the name of the original ancient Egyptian deity. Her popularity grew larger, and is most commonly remembered than any other Egyptian goddess, into the Greek and Roman days when she became interpreted according to their cultural values. Since she was a high-priestess and know for her works in magickal arts, they did sometimes refer to her as a trickster, like when she used her magick to help her son Heru (more commonly known as Horus), take back the throne of Wesir(more commonly known as Osiris), I am going to talk to my friend Nicki, who has taught me the most knowledge I have on Egyptian deities, if she has any recommendations on books. I have done most of my online research through historical websites such as ancientworlds and the history channel. I was always a big ancient history buff growing up so its all been a love of mine. As far as the distinction goes between the two, from what I have learned, I have found it has been more of one culture changing the names and telling their own variation of the deity in their words.

Well I will gladly assist in anyway that I can :) I am currently waiting to here back from my friend Nicki with some book referrals for you. Please let me know if you have any other specific questions about Isis at all and I will do my best to answer them :) Keep in mind throughout your research, to pace yourself and really absorb what you find. The messages that she has in store for your friend will slowly but surely present themselves and only she can fully understand it to the fullest since Isis has presented herself to her. This is very important for the whole process and it can take any amount of time for it to be clear, so best wishes to you both and I will be sure to send some positive vibes your way ~8~

My friend's "patron goddess" is Aphrodite/ Venus.
Technically Isis is the Greco Roman version of Aset the Egyptian Deity. So, really it's still within her pantheon.

There is an international fellowship dedicated to her, which is free to join. I am a member. http://www.fellowshipofisis.com/

I recommend the following Independent Kemetic forum.

Witchcraft & OBOD Druidry.

I began working with Isis last year. My ex and I were butting heads and about to face court again over our children. I was the type who had never worked with a particular deity before. I had just always given my thanks to the Gods/Goddesses and that was it. However, a few nights before our court date, I was at home meditating and praying about the anticipated day when suddenly, I see, feel a beautiful woman with soft brown hair and warm eyes, I didn't know what to call her but before I could even ask her name came to me, as if she answered my unspoken question. Needless to say, I won in court and Isis has been with me ever since.

As you already know, seeing you are doing your research, she is the Mother Goddess. Her presence in your friend's life could mean a variety of things if nothing significant stands out to why of all the deities, Isis would come. Have your friend call upon her, communicate with her, ask her for a sign. Of course be sure just as your would with any other, give her your thanks. The previous replies were very spot on so I figured instead of trying to elborate more I would simply give you my personal experience with her. :) Good luck and Blessed Be.
