Ventriloquist at a crossroad

Postby eight » Sun Aug 31, 2014 9:15 pm

Had this dream about a month ago and am still deeply uneasy about it – never has a dream worried me so deeply.

I’ve already read up on its meaning and am still trying to make sense of it and put it behind me – but I’m still feel strong unease.

Setting: Nighttime
I remember hyper vividly sitting by the side of the cross roads (very close to the middle section – there’s no ‘roundabout’ as such) on a chair, in front of me is a small and basic fold-up table, upon which many different colored pillar candles are burning (I feel I lit them up earlier on in the dream).
At this location I know I’m with my mum but I don’t turn around (I’m sitting) and she’s standing.
The climax of this dream – as mentioned earlier this all takes place at night and suddenly a black sportscar pulls up, pausing ---- as if to check the road before getting to the other side of the junction – yet there is no need for the driver to do this ---- as there are no other cars around at ALL. The car’s front windows are open and as she slows down --- I recognize the driver to be a “celebrity” psychic. I call out to her, to say that I was just talking about her yesterday and that I’m a fan of her's. She leans out slightly and casually says “hi” to me. Just then just as she’s about to speed off from her passenger seat a Ventriloquist dummy emerges and offers me a “message” It tells me that I’m in a deeply bad place in my life – he laughs out loud morbidly as he says this, continuing to say that my efforts to perceiver on with my plans would be fruitless. No matter however much I try, or which rituals I undertake (referring to burning candles). Lastly the dummy said one of my closet family members is deeply, deeply unhappy and that we are both in a high danger zone. More sarcastic laughter before disappearing into the distance.

When I woke up, I felt pins & needles in my face (to the extreme). This couldn’t have occurred due to my sleeping position as I always sleep on my back. I don’t suffer from cramps ect ect. And don’t have a Ventriloquist phobia, at all in my waking life.

Apologies for the above not being eloquent, but I just needed to get it out there for opinion/interpretation/advice.

Thank you for you time.

So keeping in mind that different symbols and events can mean very different things to different people... When you think of a crossroads, there's really a lot of choice there, you could pick any direction, each direction could take you someplace completely different. Standing at a crossroads could represent indecision or uncertainty, but it could also mean choice, freedom, new beginnings. Crossroads are also liminal spaces, neither truly one road or another - like standing in the doorway of a house, neither fully outside or inside. Crossroads have a ton of symbolism and mythology attached to them, so it might be good to think about what the crossroads mean to you.

To me a ventriloquist dummy is someone who wouldn't be bringing a true message. Ventriloquists throw their voices, it's just a trick, or an act, it's not true. The combination of events in the dream sort of makes me think the dummy is playing on your own self-doubts or insecurities. Have you been feeling like that lately? Like you're unsure of your path, or not seeing the results you want? Another part of the dream to explore is the origin of the dummy, he came out of the celebrity psychic's car, so how linked are they? If the car went down one path, and later the dummy went the same way, it again might be doubts keeping you from going the direction you want. It might also mean that the path the celebrity psychic represents is perhaps not the way you should be going right now, that that way might be filled with more false messages...

It's always hard to say for sure, because again what things might mean to me, you might have a totally different interpretation for, and it's always best to go with your own gut feelings, because dreams are generally a way for your own subconscious to express itself.

To add to what Siona said, don't forget that the crossroads can also lead you BACK. Many forget that there is always the choice to go back. It's usually preferred not to go back but sometimes you must to learn something you forgot.

Also, for the dummy, it might also represent others or even society seeing what you do as "false"; those of notoriety tend to be under a glaring spotlight and for those who work with the occult, a lot of society views them as "liars" and "con artists". If could be you are worried this is how society will see and treat you.

Hi and thanks a million to both Siona and Nightwatcher for your time and inputs.

Over the last couple of weeks this dream has been made clear to me in my waking life. I'll be updating as this "situation" gets resolved.
