Very disturbing dream...

I don't know if anyone has any expericence in dream interpretation but I'm hoping that someone does because I'm really rather freaked out. Let me explain:

Most of the dreams I have are relatively unremarkable and forgettable upon waking. However, when I have a dream that's extremely vividand UNforgettable, it usually means that someone is trying to contact me.

The last 3 nights in a row, I have had a horrible dream about my ex (the one I wrote about ad nauseum down in the "love" topic). It starts with he & I just sitting in front of my fireplace talking (which is something that we used to do and both enjoyed). Then I get up to go to the bathroom which is in my bedroom. I do my bathroom thing (no details needed here lol) and when I come back into my bedroom, my ex is lying on the bed right where he used to. I say something to him like, "what are you doing in here, why did you come in here" but he doesn't reply, he just lies there like he's asleep....so I go over to him to see if he's sleeping and he lunges up and grabs me, flips me onto the bed and makes love to me. When that's over (again, no details needed, but it's not rough or violent or anything) we're just lying there and he says, "honey, there's something I need to show you" and he reaches down to the floor and comes back with a huge butcher knife. I ask him why I would need to see a butcher knife and he replies that he thought I would like to see the instrument he's going to use to end my life. I think he's joking so I laugh but he kneels above me, puts the blade to my throat and says "I've never stopped loving you or wanting to be with you but I can't be with you so I have to make sure you will never be with anyone else" and proceeds to slit my throat. As my blood runs out and I lie there dying, he kisses my forehead very tenderly and leaves the room. That's when the dream ends, with the sound of my bedroom door shutting.

Now, he & I have spoken briefly since I broke up with him, nothing serious, mostly about my housemate's health (my housemate is my ex's brother - long story there) but nothing personal, nothing about our relationship or the reasons it ended - our conversations have been rahter civil. I have no real ill feelings towards him, and from what I hear he has no ill feelings towards me, so after I had the dream for the 3rd night in a row, I finally called him today and asked him why he would be sending me dreams like this (he used to get a kick out of sending me wierd dreams that would leave me going "HUH?" upon waking. He swore that he had NOT sent the dreams, that he would never EVER send me a dream that horrible, that if he was going to send me any dream it would have ended after we made love and NOT progressed to him slitting my throat. He actually sounded shocked that I had not only had this dream but that I would think he would deliberately send it to me and he was concerned that my ex-hub and his girlfriend (both Wiccans, my ex-boyfriend & I are straight up Pagans) may be playing games and trying to get me to hate him by putting these awful images into my mind. I believe that he hasn't had anything to do with the dreams simply because of his reaction to my description of them.

So if anyone can make any sense or get any impressions from these dreams, I would sure like to hear them. Thanks in advance

I have no thoughts really, but maybe it's his subconscious mind doing it? Your break up is still fresh, I would think. Just because he was shocked by it, doesn't mean he didn't do it. Not on purpose of course. Do you have any power over this dream? Is it possible that your mind is doing it? I mean, don't you want things to be back to normal with him? Somewhere on some deep level you probably do. But then the dream shows you that nothing good would come out of your relationship. I would not take slitting your throat literally, but as an image of your self dying with him, from him. He was not good to you, get back with him, and your soul/heart/mind/self would die. Just throwing ideas out there.
