How do I find my Gods?

Postby Cernunnos » Fri Nov 21, 2014 6:17 pm

I don't know how I am supposed to find which gods to recognize and worship, I have just called their names for specific tasks and whatever seems best for the task is what I usually go with, but I kind of feel I am taking advantage of them this way - should I feel like that? I don't know to be honest, maybe a sign will show in time but I remember when I was younger I had a very keen interest in a specific set of Greek deities, which is probably a calling.

In my personal experience I study their backgrounds and get to know them better. But also I need to feel an emotional and spiritual connection to them. Its a magnetic attraction for me. I dont know if that helps. But also finding a God/goddesses that encompasses your daily use.
I worship bastet, Isis and her counterpart, and hestia of the hearth. :)

I found this website one day and found it to be interesting and informative. Maybe it could help you?
www.godchecker.com
It has numerous different pantheons with the correlating deities and their histories, characteristics and so on.

My start is quite similar than duckcat experiences. I was reading a book about Egypt, when I wasn’t a pagan yet, and I read about a god, that description I felt very sympatric. I couldn’t forget him, and a few years later I finally understand, that he try to contact me.

I also advise you to read a lot about different pantheons, and if you feel close to you a goddess/god, try to contact her/him, for example pray to her/him, read tarot cards.

(English isn’t my first language, so please excuse any mistakes.)
