Feeling lost in limbo
Feeling lost in limbo
I have been meditating on finding my patron deity, and I know that some work is upon me regarding research. My question is does lineage play a part and what do I do if I don't know all my lineage (my mother was adopted, her birth mother died before we found her)? If lineage doesn't play a part where do I start? When I was younger I was drawn to ancient Egypt and native American cultures but in this moment it doesn't feel right. Any suggestions?

Lineage doesn't always play a part in patron deities, it's whatever feels right to you and which ones show themselves to you. I'm British but none of my deities are celtic or the like. If meditation isn't working for you sometimes it's best to just keep an eye out for signs that may indicate a deity trying to make themselves known to you. Many people have multiple deities from several different cultures.

There are a lot of pagans who do end up following the traditions of some of their ancestors, but there are also many who don't. (I'm not Egyptian or Greek, but they are the deities I have felt called to...) It's really a personal choice. Even ancient pagans didn't always stick strictly to their ancestral gods - for example, the worship of Isis, an Egyptian deity, was very widespread in the ancient world, so many felt drawn to her even if they were not Egyptian themselves. My question is does lineage play a part and what do I do if I don't know all my lineage (my mother was adopted, her birth mother died before we found her)?
That said, in many traditions family and ancestry isn't just about the biological, which means when one is adopted the ancestors of the family they're adopted into become their ancestors as well. So even if you're unsure of your linage, you could still look into the ancestry of your mom's adopted family. Some begin by looking into their ancestry simply because it's somewhere to start in all the pantheons and traditions out there, even if they end up deciding it's not for them.

There are basics, good, partial, evil or MORE. If the religion you follow has only 2 'which means ONE SIDED',good luck !!!_ Now 'usually' there are 3 or more feelings associated with religion, Happiness, depression,or anger,or 'more'. Now if a person goes through 'initiations' which i call 'Rites of Passage' and succeeds,The fewer times tried, and the more perfectsSs,'i added the three s's for heirarchy', The more higher the 'status' , The more PRIVILIGES, when the word 'more' to a rank is no longer SUFFICIENT,which is usually a rank of ELITE , what or which comes 'next' ?
