Gods and Goddesses of Music

Postby WaterMoon » Thu Mar 26, 2015 3:05 pm

I am trying to find a Goddess or God I can give my appreciation to for gifting me the ability to sing. Is there any Gods or Goddess that are associated with singing or music?

There are quite a few deities associated with music... In Greece alone Apollo, Artemis, the Muses, the Charities, Dionysus, Pan, Aphrodite, Hymenaios, and Hermes all had ties to music and singing - some in more specific areas than others.

Other deities include Hathor, Bes, Benzaiten, Saraswati, and I'm sure countless others from other pantheons around the world.

Thanks! I had no idea that Aphrodite was tied to music and singing.

Yup. Aphrodite, besides the more known love, sex, and beauty, is tied to music and the arts. I've started connecting with her and have been reading a lot about her. She's so much more than I realized. It has to do with passion. Art is passion, music is passion. Basically, any kind of passion, she can tied to. I always liked Athena because the wisdom aspect. Now I realize my passion for learning can be associated with Aphrodite as well.
