It really depends. Anything can have a safety symbolic meaning to it if you make it have one. For example, I wear a pentacle and with a protection spell on it, I feel safe while wearing it. As far as symbols that have been made to mean the idea of safety, there are many. Runes, letters, pendants, etc. A pentacle can represents safety which is often used as a necklace. A circle, representing a ritual cast circle, can be a safety symbol. I would recommend either the pentacle or a rune that represents protection though.

It's a very broad question, but a simple google search or some books will take you a long way

Also, crystals! there are lots of crystals that vibrate protection energy! I recommend doing a bit of research on google and seeing what types of semiprecious stones suit you meaning "protection" and maybe go support your local new age shop and ask to find some.
You can set them in jewelry, or just wear them loosely in your pocket, keeping it within your aura.

There's the classic pentagram, which is a symbol of security and protection. My personal favorite symbol for safety is the rune Algiz (the three-pronged Y).
