Am I being called or just loopy?

Postby Hamish » Sat Apr 11, 2015 2:14 pm

So I'm relatively new to this sort of spirituality. I've encountered it before, considered it, put it away, and now returned as my life has given me an encounter with an actual practitioner of Wicca. Though he is admittedly less God and Goddess centered than I. I find a lot of reverence and power in the stories, legends and myths and honestly feel like I make a natural bard. XD

But enough about that silly intro. In my spiritual path I've recently changed towns, moved and left more or less my whole old life behind. This transition was rather odd and had several signs that seem to only now have resonance with me. I feel the strongest pull towards the Morrighan, admittedly she is the figure along with Brigid, who fascinate me the most in Gaelic mythology. Plus the ancestral ties of a deity my ancestors would recognize has its appeals.

When I first moved, and started school again, my college campus was seemingly perpetually foggy. Mist, fog, ect enveloped the place for days. Admittedly California's Central Valley is no stranger to fog, but I recall first the symbolism that the realm of the dead is often a foggy place or its usually described with fog and mist. More over the Phantom Queen is said to cast Ireland in fog to protect it from invasion. That was for me the first sign that peaked my interest. The second is there are now a family of crows now essentially hovers over the whole campus and in the dorms were I now live.

Basically as a novice I feel too knew to know if I'm reading too much into coincidences or if someone is knocking at the door.

The fact that the events happening around you are speaking something more to you than just "it's foggy today" or "oh look, crows" is a calling in itself for you to look a bit deeper.

The events themselves could be happening for their own reasons, and others will see the same things you are, but you're the one they're sending a different mental message to for you to pay attention (I hope that makes sense, my wording is funny today).

I would say it's a good reason to do some more delving into practices, and see if there's anything you want to start incorporating into your life. :)

As someone who work with Death Gods like Maweth and Nergal and other Chthonic Deities like Papa Legba, Hekate, etc. I can attest to the manifestation of mist, fog, storm clouds and cold wind and appearance of strange birds and beats in unusual place at unusual time. When I was still beginning to explore my spiritual reality, the strange vision and actual manifestation of mist and fog caused me nothing but fear and panic. But throughout my journey, it had accompanied me from the beginning. Sometimes they lead me the way; sometimes they give me warning.

It took me soo many years before I realize they were manifestation of my Deities. People perceived a terrifying manifestation of darkness or chaos within the fog, storm clouds, I however, saw a symbol of guidance and protection from my Deities.

But I wouldn't assume the spiritual reality that surrounds me is anything like the spiritual reality surrounding you, or that it's my job to define spiritual reality for you on the basis of what I perceive.

I just believe that it would been enormously helpful to you in terms of expanding your awareness about Divine manifestation and such to listen and read about the experiences of others who are also spiritually aware. Sometimes we find similarities in our experiences, but we also often find vast differences. It would, in my opinion, be wrong to assume that the differences are an indication that any one of us is more accurate than the others; we're just perceiving our individual surroundings. For me to describe spiritual reality in a way that was meant to define it for someone else would be akin to informing someone on another continent that the walls of their home are white or that the weather that day for them was cloudy. While they might indeed have white walls and cloudy skies, it's not because I do. And if in fact they tell me their walls are wood paneling and the sky is clear, it would make no sense for me to insist otherwise.

So I personally suggest to a research and study about this and do some meditation to expand your awareness and consciousness. If something draw your attention, and the corresponding 'vibe' you feel tells you the thing is significant in some way -- then perhaps there is something for you to learn from giving that some meditative consideration.

I saw all these events as an almost death and resurrection in a spiritual sense. In just a short time I feel like I crossed some barrier and am now not necessarily the same person as before. Not to use too many Abrahamic symbolism but it feels like I crossed through the underworld to some land of milk and honey.

As if the Phantom Queen was in a sense shepherding me through into Death and Rebirth. It's like being refreshed and renewed. I am combing the web and other sources for information and tacitly constructing rituals and invokations but obviously am far to new to know what I am talking about. XD

Well I like the birds in general, their smart, adorable and remarkably humanlike.

I may try some meditations and a ritual or two and explore.

Ah, don't worry. I have similar experiences too with my Deities. The fog, storm, etc are metaphors of being once in chaos and darkness and gradually, as you explore a little bit deeper, you'll suddenly see a flood of light had filled you understanding.

There are metaphors of years that were filled with struggle and difficulties, and that not you learn, acknowledge or accept a significant lesson you can find wisdom, balance and harmony about these events.

I'm very much someone who differentiates between theory and experience; if I can't experience it then I can't be "sure" of a hunch. So I try to put myself into the thick of it as often as I can to find my answers (i.e. meditations, trance-work, etc...).

But I have found that it's the things that "speak" to you that will often stick with you for your lifetime.

I look forward to seeing your future postings, and if you are able to find some answers. :)

In my experience, events may not be directly related to you, personally, but if you have a feeling that they have significance, they likely do. Events have different meanings for different people as everyone has a different perspective. I've always believed that events like what you're describing likely are messages for several different people at once, and if you feel that something is speaking to you, it probably is.

After thought and inspiration I'm considering a lot of intensive meditation and possibly a set of simple rituals to her,

In my head I'm forming a kind of trinity of sorts between her, Dagda and Brigid. Or a sort of Moon and Night, Earth and the world, and Sun and day. Though I feel a great kinship with the Morrigan. Further meditation and study is needed though.

Now if only I didn't have two 10 page papers and one 7 pager to finish. XD

Have to love those assignments. :)

We all start somewhere, and it will always be a journey. But I'm glad to see you're moving forward with this! Thanks for updating us.
