Black Bear in Dream?

Postby Sakura Blossom » Thu Mar 05, 2015 3:04 pm

I don't usually remember dreams and so the fact that I had a dream about this that I remembered makes me think it's important. Haha!

So, all I remember is being at my parents house and we were waiting to go outside to our car but had to stop because even though we were in a suburban area, there was a black bear roaming around. At first I was panicked like everyone else was but then I became really relaxed and realized it was friendly. I saw him come up towards our window and poke his golden muzzle against it, as if watching me then head back out and go along on his merry way.

Does anyone know what this might mean? The only thing I can think of is that I went to something at my school that involved the Ho-Chunk nations (one of the largest Native Nations in Wisconsin) and one of the men was from the bear clan. He blessed us all who came and then after I met one of the men from the eagle clan by accident when we went out to eat and we (my roommate, friend and I) joined up with him for a meal. We had many deep discussions during this too.

Does anyone have any thoughts they could share? Thanks!

I think the bear decided to take you under his protection when you met the man from the bear clan.

You think so? And could you explain what you mean? Do you mean in a spirit animal sense? We had a discussion about spirit animals with the man from the Eagle tribe (the one I actually met. I didn't get to meet the man from the Bear clan. I simply watched him sing and play the drum as well as dance while he did so). He said that the Ho-Chunk do not believe in spirit animals or a majority do not, it's not a typical belief.

So if you mean by spirit animal, do you think it's possible for there to be one even if the tribe itself doesn't believe in it?

I hope I'm making sense and apologize for any confusion! I'm just trying to understand! Haha. Thank you for your help, Snow!

They don't have to believe in spirit animals to have a connection with them. The name of the clan indicates some connection with that animal. They may not connect in a way that we normally think of. But I do believe that the bear chose you when you were at that gathering.

So I did some research, and the Bear clan of the Ho-Chunk, are sort of the law enforcement group. Not entirely unlike being a forum moderator. I think the bear approves and is here to help you.

Very interesting concept, Snow. Thank you very much! Now I just need to figure out how to... Figure it out. Haha! If I meditate and try to meet it? Or pay attention to my dreams more... I've never really had something like this happen before.

And that would make a lot of sense! Haha. I'm also taking control in a lot of other areas of my life, so maybe that's it too?

Hi Sakura, this is interseting because I just had a similar dream about bear, started out being vicious and scary but in the end was kind and friendly. In my dream it was in danger of being hit by cars in the road and after I rescued it, he wanted me to scratch it's head, and hang out with me....that's in a nutshell, but what I find intriguing is that we both had this dream in the spring, the time when bear is beginning to venture out of her den. ..the months in the cave is getting old and it's getting to be about time to venture out, do a bit of foraging and exploring. I know many traditions have bear in the west, but we view bear in her full strength and power by Fire of South, roaming the grasslands and forrests of Summer.
I think bear is calling you to be a guide or totem of yours. It was just the native encounter that planted the dream seed.
Do you know of the medecine deck by Jamie Sams? Read the entry on bear, you may be very delightfully surprised at what you read.
A small bear sits on my altar now to remind me of bear energy in my life.

Thanks, ff! I will be looking into that right now! I hadn't even thought about how this time of year ties into them because it doesn't feel like spring yet. Lol! I have heard of that deck, though, and will be reading abut the bear now. Thank you. (:

Soooooooooooooooo...................... My professor brought her animal cards in today. I pulled one AT RANDOM and what do I pull? The Bear. LOL! It was all about needing to work on my intuition and basically anytime my spirit guides "yell" at me, it's always to work on my psychic/intuitive ability and so..... I think the bear is my spirit animal, that I may have some kind of tie to the Native American culture especially because I was randomly awarded VP position for a Native American Cultural Awareness group.... And now this. I know what my summer break will be full of! Working on my intuition and figuring out what's up with this bear situation.

I had to refrain from laughing in the middle of class when I pulled this card - which by the way, the deck had made it all around the room already and there was only myself and two others left to pick. So it was left in the deck just for me!

Ha ha Sakura ! That's wild :fairy: Bear is really tring to get your attention, eh?

I find more and more that bear has been speaking to me too... when I was in Albuquerque I ran into a Zuni fetish carver,
right away a small standing bear called to me, no..., really screamed to me. I tried to look at the other carvings but it was like they were invisible to me, or it was so busy I couldn't notice any one but the turquoise standing bear. I tried to step away, then thought why be freaking frugal now? So out came the plastic and I bought her! It's signed and has papers, this man was so genuine and sweet, the energy coming from him alone, lent to the positivity of this piece. It sits now with my other bear fetish ...him and her, turquojse beauties to remind me of my inner and outer strength, the power of introspection and the deamtime, and the strength to speak my truth, with the ferocity to protect myself and the ones I love. I have been meditating with them and found bear has bear with me for a long time, going all the way back to teddy!

Oh, my! How interesting! That's so cool, though. I looked them up and they seem really pretty. I bought something carved out of stone similar to those as X-Mas presents for my friends. (:
I love the symbolism too!

I get this same message that the bear gave me from all my spirit guides.... So I guess even though I thought I was opening myself up I need to do a better job of it. XD
