‘First Love’

Last night I had a dream
about a love that I once knew.
A beautiful dream so vivid,
like an iris, so stunning, so true.

I held you so very tightly,
your warmth it soothed my soul.
Laying together skin to skin,
I swore I’d never let go.

A longing intense invaded me
like a train it ran me through.
An emptiness followed this feeling,
when I awoke I was stripped of you.

My heart shattered--it wasn’t real!
How could this have been a dream?
Right there in my arms again
it was you, or so it seemed...


Broken again---abandoned!
This loss I cannot endure!
My first love, my angel, my everything...
I have never known a love so pure.

I’ll trek the world until I find you
to regain this love I knew
Together we could be again (my love)
forever, just me and you.
