Merry meet!
I may accidentally refer to myself as Dragonheart sometimes, considering that's what I use on most online profiles, so apologies for that XD I'll try to catch it whenever I remember.
I am female. Thank you for noticing. I won't take terrible offense if you call me "them", though, if you're not sure. XD I'm not comfortable posting my age on the Internet, however, so I will refrain from doing so.
I have been around Wicca all my life, considering I'm lucky enough to have a Wiccan mother and aunt, but I was also raised with an equal dose of Christianity, so I understand both sides of it for the most part. That said, I have all but stepped away from Christianity, because the Craft frankly makes much more sense to me, and I'm much more comfortable with it. This is slightly unfortunate, considering I actually play piano for the local Lutheran church (and get paid for it), but for the most part I sit quietly and try to take a lesson from it when I can, and bite my tongue when I must.
Unfortunately, I also have a slight problem concerning Wicca in my town, as so many of us do: I live in a tiny little town that is overwhelmingly Christian. For the most part, that's not an issue, because most of the people I hang out with are pretty open-minded (not that most of them even realize that I'm a Witch). However, one of my first "best friends" was a girl who is not just Christian, but is also a stuff-down-your-throat, my-way-or-the-high-way kind of person, including when it comes to religion. As a result, it was drilled into my head when I was pretty young that you did not discuss Wicca with people outside the family, because my mom was afraid that the girl would never speak to me again if she found out (a valid concern, as she's firmly convinced that Wicca is devil worship and once she has something in her head, it's basically impossible to convince her otherwise.
The girl's own older sister is apparently Wiccan, and she still thinks Wicca is devil worship. That should give you an idea). Caution, of course, is a good thing. Sadly, somewhere along the way, that caution turned into fear, and that fear became part of my subconscious programming. I only very recently realized just how deep that fear went, and now I'm struggling a bit to overcome it. Long story short, I very rarely get to talk about Wicca with anyone outside the family, so I will probably be a little giddy and hyperactive at first on this site. I apologize for that in advance. I will calm down with a little time... probably.
As I said earlier, I have been around Wicca for my whole life, but I only dedicated myself to the Craft and received my own Book of Shadows (which I promptly began adding to due to there being no satisfactory sealing-against-prying-eyes spell in there that I liked XD) last Summer Solstice. I'm currently working on making a staff; a friend of mind is drilling a hole in one end to embed a crystal in. I'll probably post pictures at some point.
I have three Wiccan friends outside my (blood) family: Red (whom I consider basically family), Fantasy (online only), and one other whose name I forget (online only). There are only five people outside the family, seven counting online, whom I'm out of the broom closet with. Most of my online friends don't even know I'm Wiccan, to be honest.
Random likes: dragons (all magickal/mythical creatures, but the dragons really hold my heart), music (piano 9 years, clarinet 4 years), Drama (Annie Get Your Gun as Jessie; Fiddler On the Roof as Golde), Percy Jackson, the Lunar Chronicles, crystals of all kinds (got a dozen or so in my room), rain, sun, gooseberries
Feel free to PM me or ask questions, or just reply to this thread! Blessed be!
