Have a cup of tea with me!

Postby Cats and Tea » Fri Jul 17, 2015 4:09 pm

Hello, everyone! I'm Cats and Tea. I suppose this introduction will be a bit longer than usual, I apologize for that, but I just want to explain my position.

I've always had an interest in witchcraft and paganism. Part of this is because I am a part of the Harry Potter generation, but I did have an interest in Wicca before I fully understood it. I remember once in middle school, I drew a pentacle on my binder and one of the Christian girls chastised me because that was "really bad". I believed in magic. I believed in fairies. That was sort of my life until I went to high school.

When I was in high school, I became very depressed and I lost all interest in religion. I began identifying as an atheist. I stopped believing in magic. I stopped believing in fairies. If it wasn't straight science, I wasn't interested.

I identified as an atheist until not very long ago when I became interested in religion again. I was never a drop-dead atheist. I always thought there was a possibility for something. Then I decided to learn more about Wicca, which always interested me.

I very quickly became overwhelmed. I understand why "a year and a day of training" is so commonly touted. But I like the Wiccan perspective of deity, a Goddess and a God. It's hard to believe in magick after being an atheist for so long, but I think I can get there. Magick isn't a far-fetched concept for me.

I saw somewhere on this forum that you here have a problem with new members joining for the sole purpose of soliciting Readings out of the members. I want to make it clear that is not my intention. I do find the concept interesting, but I joined because I hoped that finding a solid online community would help me understand what I find to be a very complex subject since I intend to be a solitary practitioner if Wicca is right for me.

That's my long-winded story. I hope I can make myself comfortable here and that you all will be receptive to my questions and maybe even ask me questions if you want.

Oh, and if you couldn't tell from my username. Cats and tea are two of my very favorite things!

Blessed be!

Welcome to the forum. I love kittens and tea too. :)

We don't generally assume people join just for the readings (it's common but it's not the majority). I look forward to seeing you around the forum.

Welcome to the forums !

I went through an atheist phase. It was very helpful in breaking down some mental blocks that were established in my childhood.

Hello merry meet :)
You will love the forum, I'm sure!

Interesting read, thanks for sharing :) I felt some similarities with my own patch and spirituality, even though I've been an Atheist my whole life! But also had a time of great worry, and distress. I read about Wicca and began practicing, but at the time I didn't have enough strength to continue. Which after I actually became a Christian for a while, after continuing my Wiccan patch I'm now on ^^

Ps: Tea is great ^^

Thank you all for your greetings! I look forward to getting to know you all!

And Vesca, thank you for your clarification. I've been one forums that were very hostile to newcomers and it took a lot of time to be accepted. I'm glad to see this forum is different. :D

Life's too short to spend it judging people and being generally aggressive.

Although I do get grumpy at times. :P But it's not a personal thing.

Welcome to the forum! You sound like me! Like your entire story is like mine! Except through it back a few years. I'm still in highschool. Do you do any tarot?

Welcome. I'm also a fan of felines and a good cup of tea. Ask us questions. We're here to help.

Felines and tea. Both good. :) I've struggled with religion myself. .tried to force myself to fit into a Christian mold. Much happier since leaving it. I don't follow Wicca, but my own eclectic pagan path. Welcome! This was my first board when I was initially looking into it, and it was a big help. I hope you find it helps you as well. Many blessings!

Azure Lily - I have a limited experience with tarot. My mom used to have a tarot deck that I loved as a kid. Now, I use a tarot app which I mistrusted at first but has proven to be very accurate.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my struggles with religion or in my love of cats and tea. ;)

A day without cats is like a day without cat hair in everything.

Azure Lily
Is that an older cat ?
Please keep an eye on things if so...
I've been reading up on older cats due to
my big boy is going to be 13yrs in 5 days.
Reason for post is that I read cats will act
odd like bumping head into the walls and
the like is a sign something serious is wrong.
Last night Charlie I found his head in the corner
under the counter, I don't know what he was doing
but he did the same thing in the bathroom too.
I looked at so many websites I have no idea
where I read that.
