Building relationship with the Goddess

Postby Woodsmoke » Wed Aug 26, 2015 12:10 pm

Greetings!

I come here to ask for guidance, or a clearer opinion. While i always have been quite sure of my Patron God, and having never ended our relationship despite sometimes weeks without communicating, i find my relationship with the Goddess...more lacking.

It may come from my own feelings about my feminine part, always ensure and changing; but I lack... vision about Her. Despite feeling her, a warmth around me quite like a mother's embrace but with more to it, i am never able to know her name.
What i only remember, from meditations and dreams, in the rippling image and sensation of water, like a stream or a river, current swaying before my eyes. When i wake or end it, i feel close to crying, relieved yet frustrated. I do not know if I am not ready to know Her, or if i just cannot reach out to her because of a block.

Vizualizing never helps, for these days, i just cannot see anything. I do not remember my dreams, and even the place I go to when vizualizing seems...muddled, blocked even.

So i'd like to ask you first if you have any ideas about a Goddess linked to water but not the sea; r if you have any tips or advices on how to build a relationship with the Goddess.
I tried again today, with the same muddle image of a woman, rippling like waves and stream again, the warmth of her embrace gone long after I stopped the meditation.

Thanks, and blessed be!

I tend to think of the Goddess as Mother Nature, but in reality, she can be whoever you think she is. You can believe in a God and Goddess together, just a God, or no gods at all. That's the great freedom we have with Wicca practices. I believe in a God and Goddess (Mother Nature) - God handles human beings' issues and Goddess keeps our world and nature in balance. Just my beliefs, not to challenge your own. I am not agnostic or atheist. I used to be Christian but Wicca tends to fulfill me in better ways. I have a lot of freedom and can write my own prayers, my own spells, my own rituals and all I feel that I have to follow, "commandment" wise, is the Threefold Law. Trust me, you don't want to break that.
Strong men run into battle and destroy their foes;
Wise men wait for their foes to destroy themselves.

Since you frequently see rippling image and perceive sensation of water, like a stream or a river, perhaps a river Goddess or spirit is trying to get your attention. Oshun is the first who jumps to my mind, Yoruba Orisha of fresh water. In Norse pantheon, Nerthus is the Goddess of lake and holy waters. There are also entire races of Otherworldly beings and entities who are water spirits, without being Divine entities like the Naiades, fresh water nymphs of Greek mythos.

As for your question regarding building relationship with the Deities, I don't know if there's a single, definitive general answer to this, perhaps the answer differs from person to person. But personally, my Deities are interested in my plans and They want to hear from me. In this way, They know that my entire being is focused on building relationship with Them. They will know that I've dedicated my very being to Their service. This will make Them aware that to make that They are on the same page as I'm precisely because of my dedication to Their service, worship, etc. They appreciate my humility and dedication and wants to cooperate!

Also... I just Googled 'water deities' and came up with a whole list so you should give that a go.
