So there is the triple goddess: Maiden, Mother, Crone.
I honestly haven't seen a similar trinity for the masculine aspect. I've seen suggestions for "Youth, Father, Sage".
Are there any definitive writings on this. I'm cool with the the Horned God..Lord of the Hunt. The Sun God as aspect in balance to the moon. And then there are always the Magi...
That doesn't seem to fit the same as Maiden Mother Crone. Those are powerful and distinct phases. A maiden is not a youth.
A maiden is a woman who has reached her potential as an individual. She is her own person and is complete in that way.
The next phase is Mother,,,also a very distinct phase with an entirely new standard. Crone also, squarely in the distinct and iconoclastic frame. You can't call and old man a crone. The mental comparison just doesn't fit.
I ask because I try to live as balance to my Goddess, which is my wife. We are a pair. I can go along with Father as one distinct masculine identity because I am one now. Before I was a father though...I wasn't just "youth"...is it egotistical to feel that "Warrior, Father, Sage" is more appropriate? Or is the taint of violence on warrior too heavy handed?
I guess I can deal with Sage... makes me think of thanksgiving though.
What about "Magician, Father, Sage"....the horned god is also considered a symbol for magicians...Is that too bold?

Re: Masculine Trinity
I have triune masculine equivalent to Triple Goddess: the child, the warrior, and the king.
Yoruba Orisha Oggun, warrior god and lord of iron, who holds the circle shield; the trickster child Eleggua, messenger of the gods, whose domain is wit and communication. Beauty and trickery for me are representative of the polarities of order and chaos; and fearsome Shango, god king and lord of thunder.
Also, Shango for me represents the illumination or spark of inspiration, which comes to the psyche like a bolt of lightning. Whereas Oggun represents putting inspiration into work. Shango's fire gives shape to the iron of Oggun. While Eleggua processes and balances the thought and action involved and act as the bridge or medium to channel Shango's inspiration to Oggun.

My Druid friend refers to this aspect as Boy, Man, Fogie.
I like boy, man, Sage.

Re: Masculine Trinity
I was thinking about this question a couple of weeks ago. I know Christianity went with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but that never felt right to me. I have something wandering around at the back of my mind, I just can't quantify right now.

I dont like to separate my consciousness into phases much. It's all an adaptation of One Thing. This is one reason why i prefer the concept of Hermes Trismagistus, who holds the 3 philosophies of the world
A trinity of philosophies in One Thing!

A trinity of philosophies in One Thing!
Re: Masculine Trinity
Actually these 3 are very appealingHow about Master, Father, Sage?
. ..was thinking, master-mister-miser,

but Sage feels special and sounds like the wisdom from this time period has been earned.
Hummm...maybe
Son-Swain-Sage?
It seems like many guys I speak with don't really care for Sage as the culmination of a life line grouping, as I am not terribly fond of the term Crone for my wisdom years. Nor is Mother all that was acomplished during those years, but I have yet to find a more driscriptive and aesthetically pleasing word. Well....maybe Creatrix!
I do wish however the word virgin could be reclaimed in its original meanning, which was a woman unto herself, simply meaning without spouse. Then what? Daughter, Virgin, Siren? *chuckle*
Girl and boy are specefic to a few years in a childs life, yet that era is so short in relation to the rest of ones life. If we are talking strictly from a sexual maturity standpoint, about 11 yrs-15, for girls and boys 14 yrs-17, though everyone is so different as to when they "sprout" shall we say. Still, there's fully developed brain maturity several years after the sprout.
The trinity is unbalanced, though It does seem as there are 3 distinct phases. With many mini phases in between.
I saw someone had posted their sexual orientation as age induced neuter, (had to laugh, that was cute) but now we have a pill for that, my point is that men and women get to the age where they shouldn't be having babies anymore. Not to say a romp isn't fun and healthy but then one has to come to terms with being creative. because that wench Change is going to happen. (Why is change thought of as female?...sorry, sidetrack)
I'm beginning to ramble I think the Trinity is more of a shape of an isosceles triangle, and some men may have babies after their 80s though they probably really shouldn't be for, the child's sake.
Whew..

I love the Page, Knight and King achetypes of tarot.
I like to think of the Hermit as the King having gone into retirement --he just don't wanna' be bothered no more, haha.
