Some Helios help?

As you can tell by my username, I'm really into the sun, but not literally, I hope.

So um ever since I first studied Greek mythology a long time ago, the name Helios really popped out to me and I felt attracted to him and stuff. What a weird god to be attracted to, I know. Then it started occurring to me that maybe he was trying to get in contact with me? I mean, I feel happier when it's daytime and I always feel grateful for every time the sun emerges from the cold winter sky. Overall I'm just happier when the sun is out and the daytime and springtime are my favorite times of the day/year.

I'm really starting to take in all these signs and think it might be him? So I was looking into trying to get into contact with him. A lot of sources say to build a small shrine to him. It usually included a candle but that might look weird to my parents and they might get suspicious because I'm exploring around my beliefs? So does anyone know of what I can dedicate to him that wouldn't seem out of place or do quietly so my parents don't suspect something? I really just want to know if it's Helios. Any help would be appreciated. ^^;;;

I don't think that anybody here can tell you with certainty what your affinity and connection is or isn't....This is the part of following your path that is uniquely you.

If you feel it, and are drawn solar worship-then do it. Your own feelings of confirmation come from within. Your inner knowing will develop with time and connection. I think it's great. From time immemorial people have worshiped the sun. It's powerful, life affirming, and almost all life on earth is dependant on it. Helios, Ra....or whatever.....

You could incorporate more yellow, or gold tone items into your environment. Sunflowers.....you can go online and look into which herbs and animals correspond with the sun. Incorporate herbs into teas...salads......calendula (marigold) Nasturtium...etc. Draw pictures...celebrate life....use honey.

Each time you're outside-acknowledge the sun quietly. Thank that gorgeous star each day for the light and the wealth.

Nobody has to know.

It's an easy thing to incorporate because sun imagery and symbolism is everywhere and it's a part of each day. It doesn't have to look pagan/witchy or whatever at all.

I actually draw a lot, and I have my own interpretation of Him. Do you think He might like that? If I quietly offer up to Him a drawing that I drew of Him? I hope so, that's the only thing I have of Him as of right now. I don't want to upset Him with it. orz

That's terrific-why not? People find all kinds of ways to honour and express reverence and joy. There's dancing, singing, and yes-art. It's all great!

As long as you show respect and do your art of him to honor him, Helios will not get mad. Respect is key. Never take any of the Gods or Goddesses for granted and you should be fine.

As for what he may look like, who is to say that he wasn't trying to show himself to you through your art in an image that you can understand and relate to.

I would try to get some sunrise rituals out, maybe sunrise meditations with Helios when everyone is asleep at your house. If I were you, I would find an outdoor spot, somewhere private, to make a temporary shrine whenever you need to do your rituals. (Woods, a park, something.)

Okay, so... I took some of your ideas and did some of them just about 10 minutes ago. I did a sort of sun and moon meditation, making myself aware of all this energy, but everytime I heard about the sun, I felt it overwhelm me and hug me, this light took over me and all of this. I felt like I was on the right path. However, somewhere towards the end, I think you could say the moon was trying to get me as well, it wanted that embrace over me. All I could think was "what the heck is going on? First the sun, now the moon?!"

Am I doing something wrong... Or am I doing something right?

I've never meditated before, so now wow I feel so calm!

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I think you can fit both into your practice. After all Apollo and Artemis are twins, or Selene and Helios. They go together, they're just opposites.

For myself, I am more of a night person and I lean towards moon rituals, the like.... But this doesn't stop me from doing solar based rituals or worshiping sun gods. I don't do them as often as I do the night stuff, but I still do them. You can't have one without the other anyway.

The moon shines bright because it is reflecting the sun's light? Not weird at all when you think about EVERYNG the sun does...the link between the sun and the moon....just following the energetic thread I would say......

Alright. I really appreciate your help, everyone. I'll just keep trying these sort of things and see what happens. Hopefully I can get something out of it.
