Combining stones

Postby hawthornefaery » Mon May 01, 2006 12:48 pm

Carnelian and Aventurine. Is it a good combination for a necklace...I feel that it is and they are both Taurus Zodiac stones ( I am a Taurus :D ) But wearing the necklace what can anyone tell me of the magikal combination of the two. Is it a good idea.

Hey fellow Canuck, :D

Yes, these are fun stones to wear. Carnelian is a chalcedony like onyx and the quartz-essence of aventurine harmonizes well with all the quartz based stones, like chalcedony. Together, I would use these for a party, a day of errands or anything else that requires activity with other people. These stones are good for trivial daily stuff as they will help keep your energies focussed on the "present" and give you the Venusian grace to be able to make other people comfortable and happy. The magick of great stones like these is their ability to generate goodwill between people, places and things. If you feel the need to connect to your surroundings, and develop a deep and meaningful relationship with your world then this is a great combination! I hope that you enjoy the necklace--I would imagine that it looks amazing.

Moss Agate is actually chalcedony like carnelian. Just green and blue---thus, it is great energy for those colour rays and to connect with nature energies. I always use Moss Agate (chalcedony) when I do the lawn and other outside stuff. Sunstone is always a party. One of my personal favourites! This combo would be fun for hiking, visting friends, trying to contact elemnetal spirits and/or faerie work and an all-round feel good combo. See the beauty in nature and perhaps it will inspire you to create something beautiful along side. You seem to be drawn to very positive, friendly and feel-good energies. This is also a good combo for everyday worldly affairs and will probably bring a sense of sexy vitality to your overall outlook. Again, enjoy!

Peace,
bsp

P.S. Yay, London, Ont! Why would you be coming here!!?!?

Hey thanks again for sharing your knowledge about stones. I love wearing the moss agate-sunstone combo. It feels good. I have friends that are rock houndsLOL. They send me beautiful strands from all over the world. They visit Quarzite (hope spelling is correct) Arizona and stay at the rock gem and mineral show. They are fantastic people. I was in London to see Dora with my kids. I was disapointed that I did not make it to Mystic Book Shop. I love that store. Jodi is always very welcoming and a pleasure to talk with. Plus it smells soooo god in there. :)

Yay Jodi!! I miss her,

Since we had our baby we haven't had a chance to get down to the Mystic! It is so cool that you know that shop--I want to work there, but they won't let me! I will be seeing her this week if not next! You are right, it is like going to church--Instead I go to the Mystic Bookshop because it smells better!!! Jodi gets a lot of fine stones too, but your Arizona friends sound like they have their fingers on the pulse. Yay HawthorneFaery!

Blessings,

Hey Hawthorne,

I am male; no, I do not go to any Temple's here as I am a Solitary (for the most part), and personally I dislike Scott Cunningham's stone book. There is a lot that is lacking in it--he spread his knowledge too wide and as a result we get poor scholarship--don't waste money on this book. There are websites more informative than that text. But, for the best books on Stones and Crystals, I suggest that you look for work by Melody, Robert Simmons and Naisha Ashian--these are the true "Stoners" out there--and Katrina Raphael's works, although dated, are fanstastic. Baby is approaching 3 months old and getting more lovely every day. Thanks Hawthorne! Hope this answers your questions. Have you been practicing the craft for a long time?

PM me or e-mail me if you would prefer.

Blessings

Speaking of those authors, BSP- here's a link to their newest book (at least I think it's their newest... I remember getting a notice about this sometime in January or a little bit before...?) Anyway- Book of Stones: http://www.heavenandearthjewelry.com/in ... rodID=6870

And I'm sure this is also available on Amazon for all you Amazon-ians (ha! that sounds silly.)

I love the Book of Stones-- Robert and Naisha are brilliant! I met them and got a signed copy. I use this one a lot now and find myself thinking that they may be more penetrating and thorough than Melody (and I am a part of T.A.O.M.C.H.I. --the association of Melody crystal healing instructors). As a Canadian, I say that Robert and his wife Kathy, as well as Naisha are among the most amazing Americans I have ever met. Way to go Robert--his book on Moldavite rocks too! Ahh Moldavite--simply irresistible--can;t get enough of that energy! Yay MoonStone.

I felt so interested by this post. Im a virgo. What stones are meant for me?
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.

The stones that are right for you are the stones that fee right to you. since Virgo is an earth sign, you *may* feel more drawn to earthy-colored stones, but don't let that limit you. find a shop, if you can that sells lot s of different types of stones, go there and look around, see what you're drawn to. Which stones are more interesting, which ones *feel* rght for you. I would recommend not doing any research first so you dont have any preconceptions about the stones you *want* to feel right. Get a few and take them home. Play with them, hold them, meditate with them.

Things like this can't be very well-definied in a book. You may find the chemical and physical properties, but if you're going to make magical use, it's realy very subjective. Some things have obvious associations, like green stones for money, but not everyone feels that way. AND not every stone is meant for some arbitrary pigeonhole.

I have always loved Haemotite (sp?), I just think it's so beautiful and unusual. I even got a saxophone that was the colour of haemotite, even though I should probably have bought a better one! I have heard it's good for depression, but I'd love to know more about it
