:] Growing up, I've always "kissed the clock" at 11.11 and made a wish. I know its' because it's the only time the numbers are the same- but is there any other story behind this?

well i always used to make a wish too, not just on the ones but on all the numbers up to 5:55. it's a simple superstition, really, but is it taking it too far to say that such things can also be classified as spells?

think about it.

a spell is merely the focused and channeled intentions of whoever is working the magic. if somebody made the wish and wanted it bad enough, and knew they could make it come true, then they'd get their wish, wouldn't they?
(ever notice that when you were still naive enough to believe in fairy tales you'd sometimes get your birthday wish?)

my thought is that all the seemingly silly things kids do are simply spells. the reason they usually don't do anything is that the kid doing it doesn't realize that they could truly make something happen with it.

well I'm gonna cut myself off- I'm a tad loopy today

I'm not really one for this whole numbers in sync thing, but it's interesting to note that I just glanced up at the top of the main index.. To see:

You last visited on Fri Jul 27, 2007 1:11 am
The time now is Fri Jul 27, 2007 3:33 am

I know the time that I'm posting this is about 4:20am (my time), but evidently I'd left the page open accidentally in the background since 3:33. Like i say, I'm not one for the numbers thing, but that's pretty random :).

Old topic

One of my favorite explanations is that the numerals form a picture of the 4 pillars of a temple 🏛and between them are the 3 paths - left hand path, middle path, right hand path. In old-time temples the left and right would be fake entrances and only by taking the middle path could one enter the temple of enlightenment. So seeing 11:11 is an invitation.

Sounds neutral, but is it working for you?
You always seemed to me the goodest around here. The lawful way.

It is a very mysterious definition of a temple. Probably of the eldest and wisest. Although talking about enlightenment is a bit excessive on such pathway.

Why? Seems the most sensible way to go, and would that not constitute enlightenment??

Spark of desire nourishes tension of longing, or struggle. By creating desire to attain abstract, unfeasible, nonsense thing you rob yourself of all satisfaction.

Had some Zen quotes such as "raising waves where no wind blows" as stated by Mumon Ekai.
Easiest is to look at first chapter of Tao te ching or how is it called in English.

My theory is a bit fierce, examining how Taoists of China developed wu-wei and some silent fluidity to the whole thing.
Seriously though, look at Buddhist, Christian and Taoist monks.
Christian and Buddhist are basicly beggars with suppressed sexuality. Christian one longing for 'external God's' approval, Buddhist longing for 'enlightenment'. Dying at normal age mostly on cancer since aggression is usually suppressed.
Taoist monks live in mountains and are slim for they eat little food that they grow and similar, doing the energy conduct to flow the sexual energy through the whole body and perhaps even having spiritual lovers they don't talk about. Living up to 150 years... ever maintaining the silent fluidity.

Lao Tzu stated at beginning of that book "defined is the mother of Sky and Earth, undefined is the origin... both, although bearing different names come from the same... thus the sameness being the mystery and the gateway.
You can see that this was never surpassed by Buddhists and there are some Chinese scripts claiming he left the country and was actually a teacher of Buddha, Buddhists being outraged by those scriptures.
He was never found dead, sometimes rumoured to have lived 800 years and more... very uncommon for famous people to just vanish like that.
