In middle school there was a girl my age who was from india, well her family was, thay belived in an indian religion ( i really donno the name ) And no one cared infact she was one of the populer kids, and so was her older sister. For a talent show thay did a special dance together, it was more spiritual looking then belly danceing....and thay where just a little more covered up...but not much more....and eveyone loved it, thay where very confident in there religion and themselves, and i dont belive anyone ever bothered them.

I think no one bothered them because thay came into school confadent and proud of there heratige and religion. Also evey one new thats how thay grew up, thay whent back to india evey year to see there grandparents. ( i think resently thay have been bothered a bit by the "terrorist" crap thats going on )

I think its a little differnt if you all of a sudden start telling people you became pagan/wicca last year. And thay also dont teach pagan religions ( other than greek ) in school, thay teach about hindo and the religions of india, so all people know about paganisum is what thay where told, that its "evil" and so thay belive it.

Wiccans in high school

Postby lovespellsdontwork » Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:01 pm

yeah well im in high school and im wiccan. Most people don't know, and those that I tell find it interesting. Some find it really weird and even stupid. But that's okay, I just smile and tell them they can think what they want. So what if they tease you about it? Your true friends won't care what you believe in. But I know it's easier said that done.

If you are really concerned about it, than you should study your witchcraft at home or outside or somewhere private. No one has to know unless you tell them.

Hope it helps. Keep Freedom Diving.

There was something my mentor Terry once told me but I can't quite remember it all. (Very gappy memory anymore. Old age and car wrecks I guess.)

To know, to are, to do, to keep silent.

I want to say that there is a fith one in there but I'm not 100% sure. As he is on these forums now, I am sure he will see this and correct me.

(Sorry if I butchered this TOO bad HPCrowley. You know my brain)

Would it have been:

To dare
To will
To know
To be silent

by any chance? ;)

wiccan_butterfly, the first thing you have to do is be at peace with the fact that you are wiccan and be comfortable with it. it sounds to me that you let what others think of you stop you from moving on within yourself. just let go, and dont care what others think. you are who you are, and dont let anyone or anything make you feel like thats a bad thing. just remember your living life for yourself, not anyone else.

Sobek has a point here. Ask yourself this:

Beyond school, what do these people matter in your life? Seriously, beyond school, once you've worn the cap and gown and have the paper and you step fowards into the rest of your life, what will they matter? Those who matter won't care and those that care, won't matter. A true friend will accept you as is. Mine do and I have friends in several religeons including Jewish, Muslim and even Babtist and Jehovah's witness.

But keep your head about you. There are those who should not know as their ignorance is conected to intolerance. Before you "out" yourself to ANYONE, make absolutly sure that they are a true confidant and won't attempt to crucify you.

Blessed be.

you shouldn't be worried anyways, but I know that I'm in highschool as well, and I felt a bit akward checking out a wicca book from the library and walking down the hallways with it. I don't mind my friends knowing (one of them is the reason I even KNOW there are wicca books in the library, because the one I just checked out yesturday she had out last year), but i'm kind of hoping that some of the other people don't find out i'm into wicca/paganism, since they allready think i'm weird for being vegetarian and kind of quiet. But we shouldn't worry about what other people think anyways, like all of the other posts have said :) I just tend to though, which I shouldn't.

Where i come from there is not really a reason to be afraid of showing that you are wiccan/pagan...
I was always really happy about that, because i am not one to hide what i believe in...

I only had a few negative reactions when i was in highschool, and those were all from kids who were raised by extremly christian parents... I mostly told them that i respect what they believe in, so that it would only be fair for them to respect what i believe in...

well im starting Highschool here in a few weeks, the day after labor day to be exact, and i over-heard that our school library has books on almost everything, that sounds great i know, but my problem is, if i start checking out to many wiccan and magick books, will be get suspicous of me and my readings? i mean i could just tell them to stfu and stay out of my buisness, but then they will spread rumors, and it will just be a BIG mess, help me please
Is there a public library nearby? They would most likely have a better selection and no one looking at your reading habits.
