Walking with the God/Goddess

Postby Sercee » Thu Nov 02, 2006 2:14 pm

I'm on a sort of 'assignment' right now. I'm to spend a day and an evening walking with the God, then a day and an evening with the Goddess, then a day and an evening with both. I've chosen Cernunnos for this exercise.

My question to you would be, I guess, how do you (personally) honor your God and feel His presence? How do you do this for your Goddess?

It's hard for me because I work in a very mundane place (office tower, no windows to my work area), but I try to breath in the energy around me and stop to appreciate the warmth and light of the sun when I see it. It's also winter here now, so I might see some deer or elk when I go to my inlaws for Samhain this weekend.

I'm neither a witch nor do I follow a wiccan related path; my tradition does not have patron nor matron deities although I have been aided by such great spirits. I'm answering your post because of the description of your task and what you said about being sequestered from nature. I sympathize with you in that I'm currently living somewhere where it's difficult to visit true wilderness.

I (as I suspect you do) also find it easier to connect with healthier and freer energies, what some (my self sometime as well) would call divine, when in the wild. However, even the sterile scene of a mundane, drab, beige cubicle is brimming, absolutely teeming, with the most wondrous and intensely engaging energies. You only have to see how. This is hard, especially as we grow older and take on the burdens of adulthood.

If you can push aside the miasma of the dull, grave, mechanical facade of your life at work and see your matron and patron behind it, imagine what else you can do?

Sounds like a fun challenge to me!

cheers,

T. Guy.

To Honor Pan, I walk in the woods whenever I get a chance. When I can't, I simply stop and feel the sunlight on my face and the warmth flowing into me.

For the Lady. I look to the moon and close my eyes. I feel the cool light against my skin and turn slightly so it caresses my cheek.

I'm a cube monkey myself. No windows. Oh wait...I have a computer...the computer can be a window.

Find an image of your god or something that reminds you of your god and use that as your desktop picture. (If anyone asks about it and you don't want to say anyhitng of your religion- i wouldn't blame you- it's easy enough to say that you're interested in the mythology the history, the culture etc, or that you just thought it was a cool picture.)

if you have anyhitng bring items in that you can put on your desk

if you have a park nearby, go there on your lunch break. Even if there are just a few trees outside your office, sit or stand under them if the weather allows- again, if anyone asks what you're doing, you're just getting some fresh air...which you are!

Well, I finished my 'assignment'. Thank you for your suggestions, they definately helped.

I won't go into my experiences in depth unless you want to hear them, but the third day (where I walked with both) happened to be the day my family and I held our Samhain ritual. This was also the first time I've ever been involved in a full circle casting. We did a scrying before we closed and I saw and felt some great things. I know this assignment was successful and I know that it has put me more firmly on my path.

Again, thank you.
