On the topic of the craft, the only two i can think of is "The element encyclopedia of 5000 spell" by Judika Illes. It's very comprihensive and covers the gambit of origens and includes brief descriptions of the history on most. The foward is very insightfull by itself.
I also have, for reference a dictionary of Witchcraft that breaks down all the common words and terms used in witchcraft and paganism in general. It's a great learning and reference tool. I'll look at it tonight and post the author's name.

The greatest advice I was ever given: It matters not what you believe. Only that you believe it wholeheartedly.

If you're a teen (Which I am) Teen Witch by Silver Ravenwolf is a very good read. It really focuses on the things that teens find important like pimples and guys and instead of the books that have hard terms to understand sometimes if you're just beginning this book as little boxes on the side of the pages so that you know the vocabulary and helps you understand better what you're reading.

A book for a solitary witch is Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf. It's pretty big and if you buy it from a bookstore you'll be paying a pretty penny for it, but it is so amazing! Everything you'd want to know is in there, although it is a harder read.

Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan. It is an amazing, amazing book if your an advanced Wiccan and not a beginner, as it's more of an... intermediate Wiccan book. I suggest this to everyone because it really shows how to live Wiccan instead of just following the religion Wicca.

I'm lucky enough to share a bunch of Wiccan books with my friend. We basically have one for every branch of Wicca so we're basically teaching ourselves. But these books are my favorite and I'm sure you'll enjoy them!

While not specifically Wiccan/Pagan, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is a great read. It's short and fast (you can read it in an hour or two, most likely), spiritual to the max, and one of the most motivational books around. You've probably seen quotes from The Alchemist or other Coelho books floating around the Internet, actually. Anything "Personal Legend"-related is bound to be Coelho.

Love,
Spionen

Wow, I've read people's comments regarding this Silven Ravenwolf, but I had no idea until I read that article. I'm really glad to see such a mature, responsible, and well written piece. My hat's off to the author and to LaFiamma for posting the link.

"I believe one of the biggest problems Witches face today is the influx of Christianity and its "turn the other cheek" melodrama."
______________________________________________________
"Ravenwolf is also a very public sufferer of the More Persecuted than Thou Syndrome"

"There goes the cult talk again. New reality? What reality were you living in before? And don't you just love the paranoia?"

"A Solitary Witch is simply one that practices (wait for it)...in solitary"

i laughed at the above statements, they were quite amusing

above the line is what i figure are quotes from the book and the below is the article writers views

that woman needs a serious head check

No problem. It's a great site for showing people the problems with SRW. No need to argue, just point to the source. Most of the people that I've hown it to have had a hard time arguing with it. There's also one on that site for Fiona Horne- though not really dealing so much with her books...wish she'd do one for DJ Conway.

There are always far too many books I desperately want. I'm the type of person who will wear rags so long as I have new books to read. At the moment there are two books I have my eye on. The first is a book on Norse mythology and religion. The second is a book about herbalism in the medieval period. Links below for mutual drooling!

Medieval Herbal Remedies: The Old English Herbarium and Anglo-Saxon Medicine by Ann Van Arsdall

Nordic Religions in the Viking Age by Thomas A. Dubois

Again, not specifically Wiccan, but certainly Spiritual to the nth degree....
The following were the three books that got me into Spiritualily way back when...I still love them.

THE CELESTINE PROPHECY - James Redfield
THE WAY OF THE PEACEFUL WARRIOR - Dan Millman
THE SACRED JOURNEY OF THE PEACEFUL WARRIOR - Dan Millman

Three wonderful books that are excellent starting points for those beginning any Spiritual path as they open you up to the wonder of synchronicity & the realization that there really are no such things as coincidences.

However, if there was one author who changed my life is is Neale Donald Walsh. His CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD series is utterly brilliant in my opinion. I have read Book 1 at least 4 times & Book two at least 3 time. There's 6 in the series & they are just magnificent, hope-filled, pouring with love & understanding & re-assurance.

"A Solitary Witch is simply one that practices (wait for it)...in solitary"
so that begs the question...just where is Solitary anyway? I mean if a witch practices in Punxatawney, by that logic it would make them a Punxatawney witch...but I've never heard of a Punxatawney witch.

You just had to use that town as an example. I hate trying to pronounce that one!

I also love the Celestine Prophecy. There's a bunch of hooey in there, but a lot of it alos makes a lot of sense.
