I don’t want to get too incredibly personal, this is for your benefit not my own, but I will have to go into detail so you all understand my circumstances. Ok, so about 4 years ago I met someone, we dated, I broke up with him, I was miserable for almost two years without him (lets call him Bob). I met another guy (lets call him Joe), but we never started dating but I cared a lot about him. I love Bob with all my heart but I love Joe like a friend. I missed Bob everyday and given the circumstances we couldn’t talk AT ALL, the whole year and x amount of months. So Joe and I begin to move closer to dating and one night I had all these mixed emotions. This is where my issue comes in. I don’t write much poetry, and I am pretty new with Wicca, so anyone who reads this knows. Ok, so I wrote a poem one night, stating my confusion as to what I would do if I had to choose between Joe and Bob. I pretty much poured my heart into this poem. Remember, I haven’t talked to Bob, in almost two years, the day after writing this poem, Bob showed up at my door, no call no notice of any sort. Don’t get me wrong, I am ecstatic to have him back in my life, but is it what was meant to happen? Is it possible that in my state of emotion my poem acted like a spell? I have heard the warnings about love spells and the possible dangers, and I would greatly appreciate any advice as to how I could fix my problem if there even is one. Is there anyway to know if him showing up was his doing or the doing of something else? Yes, I know it could be a coincidence but that is so unlikely I really have ruled it out.
P.S. I really tried to leave the mushy stuff out. Sorry, if I didn't.

The first thing you need to realize is that your thoughts & emotions are energy & morso, those thoughts & emotions & the energy released by them in fact create your physical relaity........Very important point.
Don't think of energy as this invisible, fairytale kinda thing. Energy is real, energy is alive & energy is in every single thing you can see......and in a zillion things you can't. Energy is not some fantasy thing....it is real & it affects everything it comes into contact with.
I would discount your thought that the poem you wrote was a "spell" only because I think you refer to the term "spell" in it's tradtional sense of the word, meaning that it is something that you plan, contrive, make preparations for & do with a particular purpose in mind, or a particular intent. In the word's loosest form, I guess, yes, you might call it a spell sheerly from the energy factor involed in it. After all, spell work is merely the raising & releasing of energy for a specific purpose or outcome.
If however you wrote this with the purpose of attracting him back into your life, then a spell you have cast!
What I will say is this. If you put your heart & soul into that poem as you say you did, then what you have there is a VERY powerful piece of writing. More than that, what you have there is a very powerful energy release & a very powerful part of your Spirit.
Without even realising it Kate, you have put a huge amount of energy out there & from the way you speak about "Bob", a great majority of it directed towards him, in feelings of deep love. Energy is the most basic building block of all things.....you, me, the sun, the metal that makes that ring you're wearing, the tree outside your window, the stone on the river bed, the water flowing over it, the plastic & other stuff that makes up the monitor you are looking at right now. Everything. It's all made up of the same "stuff". And that stuff is energy. It's my belief that the only thing that seperates me from a tree is my energy vibrates at a different frequency, thus forming "me" differently genetically & in a myriad other ways.
So already, we're dealing with a super-strong & all encompassing entity that is energy. Now you add the strongest & most powerful emotion in the universe, LOVE, to the mix & well my friend, you have yourself one potent little cocktail.
Without realizing it, you have put that massive energy wave out into the universe & by your sheer connection to this one person, you have directed it at him. Now he's shown up on your doorstep, unannounced & probably has no idea why. Or at least, why now?
Now it may just be that he had been thinking deeply about you for some time too, & that energy that HE was putting out there toward you (because he was thinking about you) in effect caused you to write the poem! Oh what a lovely little dance it is!
Add to this the amount of time you say that you have not had contact with one another (remember absence makes the heart grow fonder), & that fact just adds to the power of this energy that is buzzing between you both right now (and I'm willing to bet, always has been).
Either way, the mere fact of this seeminly incredible synchronicity & coincidence (remember there are NO such things as coincidence - everything happens for a reason) is evidence in & of itself that whatever connection that you & "Bob" have/had, is not over. There is more to be played out. At least, that would be my thought on the whole thing, would I were you.
Where does "Joe" lie in all this? Well here's where the fun part comes in & you have to take anothers feelings into account, yet maintain the honour to thine own self & do what is right for you.

Remember, at any moment in time, you are exactly where you are supposed to be in that moment, for if it were not so, you would be somewhere else.

Katie i would have to say like i have before that even though you werent trying you put all ur energy into your writing and that was explelled to cause a series of reactions to happen. You were so deeply moved and thought so much about what you were thinking and writing that u didnt even need to put it out there in the form of a spell, your body and soul did that all on its own. LOve is the ultimate power and you used it perfectly without even trying. good job.
