where have I been

Postby Exilus » Mon Dec 11, 2006 5:29 pm

Ok i got asked today why I havent been on the board and answering the way I normally do, and wheni answered I was told I should post my answer here because people had started to notice my frequency of answering.

The answer is this, a few weeks ago I had a discussion on this board and someon asked about being a christian witch, and I answered them in my normal way, calmly and using their beleifs(or rather the beleifs taught by the religion) to show them why i beleived what i was saying. It turned into a fight and at one point in it I was called bitter, and a few other things. This put me off and I will admit made me question my ideals of teaching truth.

I come to message boards with out a christian section because even though I know the bible probally better than i know the flow of Deirdre's body I do not seek nor enjoy arguements over it, nor do I enjoy argueing over beleifs any more. So I slowed down because argueing with people who share many common beleifs with me is definetly the last thing I want or need.

So I slowed down, I stopped I had decided that i would not answer any more. Now before it is asked, I let it phase me because answering posts the way I do takes alot of mental energy, and an arguement on here internet or not can affect a person the same way as face to face can. This is proven because we come some to teach some to learn, and if we didnt allow us to affect us in some way then talking here would be pointless as it is just words. The person who asked me to post this, has said they missed my thought out and informing answer(their words, but felt good just the same.) and asked for me to not back down.

After talking to the person I felt i owed you all an explanation as well, and I am sorry if this is the majority of the peoples ideas of how I was answering things fit with this persons. and I will try to go back to buesness as usal.

I do understand that my texts are sometimes unclear and i again appoligise as I have said before i have dislexia and I am attempting to make my own buesness online so after sitting here for a long time when i come to the boad, punctuation and grammer tend to run for the hills as well as sometimes my ability to spell, on top of this i speak four languages and read three, so mixing things up tends to happen easily. So bare with me and I will continue to try and answer the way the at least one person felt I was before.

I read the thread you mentioned, and yeah its bad when something turns into an arguement. I've been there before. I do hope that you'll keep answering posts though. I find your answers to be quite helpful.

I enjoy reading your rants and responses. They're always educational. And they are very effective at pushing buttons. I appreciate that you speak the truth to the best of your abilities, and you aren't a jerk about it... at least until you're pressed ;).

I definately cringe when people get so offended here, sometimes. This is a community that (I feel) should be a lot more tolerant of other people's ideas, but that isn't always the case.

I think we all learn from each other and it's a shame that particular topic got so heated, as many valid points were made. You are our bible scholar, without question. I could never hope to remember any where near the amount of knowledge you have on this and I was force fed it by rote, as a child! All I remember is a few Aramaic quotes, which I think may be apochryphal, I mix it up a lot. [I know about the History of Christianity from the political dogma and social aspects, I studied the interesting Heresies, of course.] No one should feel that they need to stop posting or self censor, especially not you. As Sercee said, you make it interesting, you were very welcoming to me when I joined and I hope you will continue to be open and honest, if thought provoking and a little controversial sometimes, lol.

Whoever that person was Exilus, it was good of them to seek you out and find out why you weren't posting. I can certainly understand why your presence would be immediately missed; you're an irreplaceable inspiration to so many members of the forum. I'm so sorry that you were made to question your ideals of teaching the truth. I can't think of a more laudable mantle to wear.

Eretik is right, you are, without question, our very own quintessential bible scholar. You probably know the verses better than most arch-bishops. I can certainly see why you don't seek to argue over it.

I'm so sorry that you felt like you had to slow down your posts. You certainly do put a lot of mental energy into your answers, and it shows. We're all benefitting from this. I can understand why the person who asked you to post this said that they missed your thought-out and informing answers, and that you should not back down.

I'm glad, after talking with this person, that you decided to offer us an explanation; you certainly didn't owe us one. I would very be surprised if the majority of peoples' ideas of how you answer things didn't jive with those of the individual who approached you.

You certainly don't have to apologize about unclear texts. The fact that you have dyslexia and yet are able speak four languages (and are literate in three of those) is amazing. You've overcome your weakest aspect in a way that most normal people couldn't possible hope to achieve. In fact, because of you, I'm newly inspired to take up the study of Chinese scripts. I started once before, but felt I was too old and that it would take too long. Given your example, I can't decline to at least make the effort.

I'm really glad you've decided to continue to enrich the forum Exilus. Also, a special thanks to whoever reached out to him, because of you, we have our Exilus back.

T. Guy.

I am so very glad you decided to stay! Like the others I find you to be very educational and inspirational.

I grew up in a fundamenalist home and now most of my inlaws have found Jesus. I did not study the bible much as my mom would like me to have, but it just did sit well with me. I had too many questions and no answers. So I know that I could learn alot from you.

I can say that I know how you feel... I once got into a fist fight with a girl that I lived with in Louisville because of a debate we got into about God and religion and how I was "so wrong for my beliefs"

Just know though that just because one person doesn't want you around that doesn't mean that everyone else doesn't because we do. :)

Like Thatguy said, I think it's amazing that despite your dyslexia, you are fluent in several languages, that's inspirational for everyone. I am going to go buy a bible, you have spurred me to reaquaint myself with it, maybe we all should, give you a break, you could just put up the verse titles and we could read them ourselves!lol. just joking, I can understand how it could be frustrating, constantly re -explaining the same things, but you do it so well. I don't notice your dyslexia anymore, You explain yourself very well, and it dosen't cause any misunderstanding, in my opinion, anyway. Keep posting, you are needed.
