Believe it or not some of us have been taught that the Bible was inspired by God but written by men, and I do mean MEN as in not WOMEN!
wow
how misogynistic!

that's one reason I don't touch the bible unless absolutely needed. it's like a righteous, woman hating penis in the form of a book.

Who said that quote?

"christian wiccan" is an oxymoron. The two beliefs contradict each other to the highest degree. you are either one or the other, and if you claim both you are doing nothing but blaspheming both.

I disagree. Just because I believe in one god where pagans are polytheistic doesn't mean that I am blaspheming both. If you have read the bible there are lots of references to psychic ablities, use of crystals & stones, manifestations/miracles, and spells/prayers. Not that I'm bible thumper but Matthew 21:21-22

"I assure you that if you believe and do not doubt, you will be able to do what I have done to this fig tree. And not only this, but you will even be able to say this to this hill, 'Get up and throw yourself in the see,' and it will. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

To me spells are no different than prayers. I haven't done any spells that are to pagan gods that's all. If I found a spell that I did name pagan gods I would modify it to be in line with my beliefs.

This was thefirst post on this board that mentioned the bible, at which time the very next post I answered you with quotes from the bible. You did in fact quote the first bible scripture used in this post. I simply answered you were I showed you that according to the bible the two religions cannot be combined.

This is the last thing I will post on this thread because of the fact that it was this thread that almost made me walk away from the forum and was asked not to, because I am not afraid to prove points to both pagen and christian alike.

and I am not afraid of arguments in the least, it would be a good idea to simply let this post die and fade away, Ideas have as been discussed and most the people involved in it have moved away from the post.

Christian Witches // Can we do a reset here?

Postby jcrowfoot » Sat Dec 23, 2006 11:12 pm

Ok. I for one, am glad that this topic has not been locked.
Why? It would feel like censorship then.
Second: I think that if there are people that say, "Hey, I'm a Christian Wiccan", then they exist. Wether that makes any sense, is up to the individual. Hey, they even have jewelry that incorperates crosses and pentagrams. The difference between Witchcraft and Wicca is a stickler.
I'd also point out that Christians differ as to what makes up a Christian.
There are many sects of Christianity that spend most of their time decrying the legitimacy of other Christian sects.
And it goes on and on and on. I think it would be more interesting to actually hear from people who follow a combined christian/witchcraft path rather than saying "You can't exist!" Which is in effect, the same as saying, "Go away!"

Also, has anyone ever read "The Cauldron of Transformation"?
That's one tradition that looks at Christian ideas within the context of Witchcraft. I believe they say they are Wiccan.
Some who have aspects of both in their belief system might find the above book helpful for support.

Also, I thought I'd also say that it was very brave of the Christians and Christian Witches who have posted here. Kudos!

not all christians agree on the bible. i believe that alot of it is stretched as it is not the word of god it is the human interpretation of the word of god and has been translated so many times it is very different from original versions. i am a christian wiccan. my belief in christianity is loose and is mostly because that is how i was raised. i have been looking into wicca and paganism alot recently, hence me joining this site.

Yep, guys, this was a controversial one. We are tolerant people here, as I think this shows, this topic got a little heated - but many valid points were made, on both sides. I have studied a lot of Christian history, it's fascinating and there are many mystical offshoots from the mainstream - when you get us together you are going to get lots of strong opinions, we wouldn't have it any other way. We all learn so much from each other.

Alright. I just skimmed through most of the replies on here. So if i'm repeating stuff i'm sorry in advance. But anyways, getting back to the starters question about the Horned One v.s. Satan.
I'm not a Christo-Pagan, but most of the ones i've met or read about don't really mix Pagan pantheons within their belief systems. Most of them are more into Gnosticism or Christian Mysticism. To me they are Christians who don't follow the mainstream Christian dogma. They choose to interpret the teachings of Christ in a different way. If you've heard about the Gnostic or Apocryphal texts, thats where some if not most of them derive their beliefs on. I hope this helps a bit ...
