Daughter of Dreams

Postby Daughter of Dreams » Wed Jan 10, 2007 6:39 am

Im a big believer in going for your dreams. Even when so many of mine have fallen flat or shattered I keep on believing *or stubbornly hoping, lol*.

Plus I just felt connected when I made the name up...I cant even remember when it was, but it stuck. ^_^

Mine is a new one, I always had the same on and its just sort of metamorphosed over the years.
Spinny after the spinning Goddess who looks after my hearth and children, and its another word for spider ( my odd totem animal), and hex for witch

I use BabyGirl in honor of the daughter I lost seven years ago. 13 is my son's birthday, 15 is my daughter's birthday, and 19 is my birthdate. I learned a little about reading ya'lls' nicknames though.

Lechin Angel

Ah, how did I get my username? Well...a close friend of mine calls me angel. That is were I got that part. I got Lechin from my weird dreams. I believe that everyone has weird dreams though lol. In my dreams I was the first and last of my own race. Although I made up the dreams, ya know how you control your dreams right? Well I did the same thing and came up with the word Lechin. Besides I like the sound of it. I like to mix up letters and put them together like it is a foriegn language.

sekrets

When i was first introduced to the internet, chat rooms and forums, I needed an original username that related to me some how.
at the time i chose "The Source of Secrets" which is a track title off of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells III (my favorite album at the time)
a couple of years ago, I made a rather mysterious witchy-like website, and wanted the domain name secrets.com because it related to my established username and the mystery element. unfortunately secrets.com was taken, so a friend of mine suggested to replace the c with a K. I did. and from that point, I became SeKrets, on every forum i joined.
unfortunately I accidentally forgot to renew the domain name subscription, so my once fantastical website no longer exists. and I've been told that its now been taken over by some porn site or something... i darn't check it!

Although I made up the dreams, ya know how you control your dreams right? Well I did the same thing and came up with the word Lechin.
I think that's really neat. If you came up with it while searching for it in a dream then I think it really means something, it's definately 'your' name! Just who came up with it for sure is a mystery... ;)

Broadsword

I learned a lot about some of you today.

Now I'll be hearing Witchy Woman in my head for days. Thanks.

Names are powerful things. I try to keep my name to myself around some folks. I used the name Helga at the Renaissance fests. To many people with agends and lots of magic floating around.

My username was Viking Broardsword. If I had a pic you would know why.
Helga the Viking , just about right for me.

The broadsword is real. So is the broad's word. I've cut people with both. I'm working on my temper.

As for my real name it's Leslie. I hated having a name that was the same as my friends brother. Got me in some fights. That was before I was working on the temper thing.

Now that's something to appreciate and respect ;)
I'd love to see a pic sometime.

sofia

Sofia means wisdom and although I am decidedly wiser now at 46 than I was at 26, I have a long way to go. Sofia is the name I hope to grow in to.
By the way, I didn't mean to imply that someone of 26 is less wise than someone older. I believe that wisdom comes by actively seeking it..by being willing to learn from all life experiences - our own and those of others.

Well, Jcrowfoot stands for juniper crowfoot.

Juniper is a spiny shrub. It's what gives gin that odd flavor.
I don't drink much, so I didn't name myself after the gin flavoring. :-)

It is one of the oldest plants used for incense; we are talking about fossil records going back to the Stone Age. It is also very widely spread in this use... from Northern Europe to Australia to Africa to North America.

I picked Juniper because I was writing some herbal articles for The Seeker magazine, and wanted a name that sounded witchy without sounding too fluffy. Also, since it's used for both cleansing and grounding, I figured I could use massive amounts of both. ;-)
I wanted to use Yarrow, originally, but at that time it seemed like everyone and their dog was named Yarrow.

Crowfoot has a dual meaning. First, Crow is my totem animal.
One of my favorite crows, a flesh-and blood crow I used to visit at a decrepit mall, was named Hobble Foot. One of her legs was shriveled and thin. She could walk on it, but barely. Yet she was the matriarch of a family of five crows who watched over her and brought her food.

I won't bore you with the details about bird behavior that tell why this story so amazing.

So I took on the name to honor her.

The second meaning comes from Algiz, (the rune below) is called a crow foot or witches foot in colloquial German.

It also has a shamanic flavor that I'm fond of.

For many years, I just went by my real name. The rather amusing thing about this is that many people thought it was a name I picked as an alias.
And now that I have one, I run into someone periodically that thinks that my alias is my real name. :-)

I don't believe in fate. You'll find it again if you make the right choices and follow your intuition.

siriusrain

My user name...

Well, the sirius part comes from well the Harry Potter character. He's most likely my favorite and I have him to thank for my lack of writer's block. My partner and I started writing Harry Potter fanfiction after an almost three year lack of writing. Recently we've turned our energy to our first novel together. *hopes for good luck*

Rain is my nickname. It spawned from some writing I did a long time ago. It was an original character that I had created and I just liked it. I'm a watery person so it seemed fitting at the time. An alias also seemed like a good idea to a paranoid 17 year old trying to protect her identity on the internet.
