BabyGirl ~ Thank you re my Altar. Simple is always the best, ever heard the saying "less is more"? I think this is true. Even my Altar seems very "simple" compared to other Pagan Altars I've seen. I'm not into over crouding everything, it looks too messy. Yours sounds awsome hun, post some piccies if you can, if you want of course

Sekrets ~ Thanks for the comment. Gosh, I must of said thanks like a millions times, it's the right word though so what can a girl do lol.
Anyway re an Altar, you don't have to have one but it's nice to have your own Sacred little Space. Don't go out and buy the first tools you see, wait until they come to you, or you see say an Athame that really draws you to it, then get it, just don't rush the whole process, you have all the time in the World.
If you're looking how to consecrate your tools, just do a simple Google search, type in 'consecrate Altar tools' and you'll find lots of different ways to cleanse and charge your thing's. Good Luck!!!

Blessings!

that sounds really nice! my own sacred little space:)
I wasnt planning on rushing into buying anything specific. I believe that there is a certain amount of life force in everything, even inanimmate objects- and so like the spirits that choose to communicate with me, the equipment I am meant to use will make itself known to me in time... probably when i see something and say "ooooh i like that!"

Exactly hun  All my tools have "jumped out at me" when I've seen them or their Energies have blended with mine very well, I always get a warm glow like rush when that happens.

Just seen you're also from the UK :D Hi lol.

Is an alter very important in the practice of Wicca? I'd like to build one, but I live at on home at the moment and my parents would FREAK to the max.

WOW. JUST WOW. That altar is gorgeous. I personally don't have an exact altar- Let's just say that if I did, my dad would not be too pleased XD

Oh, you're in a situation where you have to hide your faith? That sucks.

Well a lot of people have small altar stuff that they can easily pack up (in a shoe box for example) to hide in their closet, or the tools they use are unmarked and 'normal' looking. I have a desk sized, permanent altar so I don't have a lot of suggestions, but here's what I'd do:

Get a good sized shoebox - the kind for hiking boots and such that are larger than normal. Reinforce the corners for strength. Get or make an altar cloth, make it large enough that if you lay it over the shoebox it'll touch the floor (or just about) on all 4 sides. When you're using the altar (shoebox) it'll cover things up and when you're not using the altar you can use it to wrap up and protect the rest of your tools.

As to the tools themselves, I'm sure I don't need to go on about what they all are. Whichever tools you decide you need to and can use make sure they are not very big - can fit into the shoebox together.

In the end, while it's very nice to have a full altar set up it is by no means necessary. We're talking about a religion who's roots are in times where people had to pretend to survive. A lot of us still do. The Goddess understands.

well my sacred space is just my bedroom, i like to refer to it as my sanctuary, even did a nice little protection thing to make it more sanctuous, but it doesnt beat the mundane approach of a lock but worked excellently none the less(thats why i love symbols, easy to make and easy to charge up). i dont really have an altar as such but i have a little cabinet where i keep most of my books, and tools, i keep other things in a locked drawer lol.

you could price one of those decently sized metal boxes that have a key lock to protect your delicates.

Thank you Sobek and Sercee very much.. I'm not sure if Wicca is my faith... It's weird. I'm a Christian, but there are many gaps in my religion... I don't feel fully connected to it, but I do feel connected to Wicca and am interested in learning more. I've been researching a lot and reading a book called Nocturnal Witchcraft, so I'm just trying to figure everything out. I'm not 100% sure what all of the tools are, how to use them, ect, but I'm trying really hard to fill in all the gaps.

Again, thanks a lot.. I still don't think I'll be able to do anything but read about the religion until I move out of this house. Sucks.

You sound like me a few years ago. I was Christian, but only because I was baptized and raised that way. I was never 'truly' Christian because of the gaps. I'm definately Wiccan now.

Whether Wicca ends up being the path you follow or not, if you have questions or need to chat feel free to pm me :)
