New York State snow emergency

Last evening watching the news, seeing all the snow New York is getting seemed really out-of-the-ordinary. In a few days some areas got more snowfall than what is expected for the whole season. According to the TV weather report, by this Sunday night, there may be about 10 ft. or more of snow.

Looking at Yahoo News tonight, seen this headline:

N.Y. sees 110 inches of snow in 7 days

PARISH, N.Y. - With more than 8 feet of snow already coating the ground, it wasn't good news for this winter-weary region when the blue sky turned gray Saturday, signaling another intense snow squall was about to dump some more.

Whatever happened to the global warming? They sure could use some of that right now.

Well, that's part of global warming, too - an extremely uneven distribution of precipitation compared to what's been experienced in the past. Here in Wisconsin we've had a weirdly snowless winter compared to what we're accustomed to. Boy, 110 inches in 7 days, though. I can't imagine what that must be like to deal with!

I think that's a definate side effect of global warming.
I've been watching that story and just laughing. But also jealous, I like snow, but when it's that much snow I LOVE it!

Here you can see global warming in action, dare I say it, but our weather is better than it used to be, that is , if you like 90+ degrees in Summer [ I don't] We are much warmer and wetter than we used to be. The trees are budding already, since late January. We used to be guaranteed snow, our ski - industry has died in the last decade, as we no longer get our Winter snows. We also have butterflies here now that used to only be seen in southern England [Meditteranean types] - I like that but it's a concern with the aquatic mammals who are coming further south each year, they seem to be sick and distressed.[ changing fish populations affecting their feeding] I have seen porpoises in the Clyde,very strange.

Yeah, I suppose once the earth gets populated to a certain point, there will be problems. I'm sure humans are contributing to the global warming mess. I also remember a wiccan who used to write articles for publications back in the 90's (late 80's also), telling me something. Merlin The Enchanter was his craft name, I don't know if anyone still remembers. Anyway, on a visit once, told me some had predicted the earth would begin cleasing itself or herself, we think of the earth as feminine. I can remember him saying that there would be earthquakes and other things happen, as cleansing process. I don't have any opinion on this myself.

It is obvious something is happening, I for one am not going to try to explain things. We know pollution and greenhouse gases are sure contributing to whatever is happening.

Recently have been collecting some of the Lakota lengends which are supposed to have been passed down for thousands of years. I really like the one of the "White Buffalo Woman" how she brought the Chanunpa to the Lakota tribe. She showed them how to use it and set up a sacred alter. It is interesting that for thousands of years, Lakota people believed in a white woman who came to them levitating in the air. Her name is used in casting the circle, for the north direction (at least in the Chanunpa ceremony I have). It is described in such a way, seems almost like a visitation from the goddess.

I got alot of snow and I am in Northern NY too. We got about 2 or 3 feet of snow.. right now he are geting some too.. We had very little snow before this. I remember one day being 60 degrees! Now here comes all the snow.. OI

You are really lucky to live in the northern part of NY. It looks bad on TV where the deep stuff is.

I just went outside and the snow is past my knees.. new snow mind you cause its been snowing all day long.... what the heck. Now I have to reshovel my driveway.
