Problems with Sensitivity and Concentration (or lack of)
Problems with Sensitivity and Concentration (or lack of)
I don't seem to have a problem with spells or with astral projection for the most part, but I have a great deal of trouble with sensitivity and concentration. I want to be able to sense energy better and be able to have more concentration when doing such things as meditating. I have a lot of problems quieting my mind because I am constantly thinking and analyzing everything. It probably doesn't help that I have a problem with patience...but if anyone can provide some tips, I would be very grateful.
Unfortunately, this is one of those problems that just takes practice and concentration work. Actually the memory game can help with this, and you can use two sets of runes or two weeded tarot decks with this. Yes, also you might want to try a shamanic journey using repetitive sounds either drumming, rattles or something similar to focus your mind. I find that people who have a hard time "turning off" do better with the shamanic work.
I'd recommend Michael Harner's cd's... he has an entire series dedicated to it. I have to admit, I've had the best luck with live drums, but a cd does work, too.
If you are looking for some kind of system to help with this kind of focus, Christopher Penczak's book "The Inner Temple of WitchCraft" (book one) or "The Temple of Shamanic WitchCraft" (book three). Silva has a paperback book which has an entire series on mind control, but I tend to pick and choose. The beginner excursuses in particular are useful for the problems you seem to be having. (to find this, look up Silva Mind Control in a search at Amazon.com under used books. I have no idea if this is still in print. ) Also, Kerr Chuluhain in "The Wiccan Warrior" also has some good suggestions.
Also, Aden McCoy in "Making Magick" also has good ideas for this.
Pick any of the above for more help. Also, feel free to PM me about it.

Wow, thanks so much you guys....music does help me, but I want to get to a point where I can do it by choice. So I didn't really think about continuing with the music stuff until I get better at it, which is actually the logical thing to do lol.
I saw that Silva book at a book store under the psychology section, so I know it's around, though I'm sure I'll get it used instead. Thank you for reccomending it.
I have the Christopher Penczak books, and they are some of my faves.
My problem is just, I get so impatient with myself.
And I try to hard with analyzing instead of trying with just feeling. I also sometimes doubt alot of things...when I become in a negative mood. And that really doesn't help at all. I have a lot of natural blocks as well...and some unnatural ones that I have needed to adapt to some situations, but they are harder to get rid of than to put up. I didn't put them up on purpose, they just came.
Anyways, thank you very much, and I will add the Silva book to my summer reading list lol.

No problem. Also it helps even more to work with others. That's why I think that it's important for all practitioners to work with a group at least once in their lives... even if they want to be solitary for the long term.
After all, without my friends to test my reactions against, it gets difficult to hold yourself as credible with this sort of thing. It's sort of why I'm looking around for folks to work with, here in the wilds of IN.

Oh, believe me, I know what you are talking about. If it weren't for my good friends, I would be more inclined to doubt the existence of various magickal things and doubt my own abilities as well. When I'm in a negative or doubtful mood, they point out to me what I've accomplished and why it is that these things exist...they kind of become my rational thinking for a while lol. And it really helps me to reaffirm my beliefs and what I know to be true. Also, if I am sending energy to someone or something of the like, it is great to hear (even sometimes before I tell them) that they can feel it. Or to compare our sensations and reactions to various things as well, like if we have a shared astral projection or both have seen some kind of entity in a dream or are both feeling the same kind of energy in a certain place....it's reassuring that you're on the right path. After all, without my friends to test my reactions against, it gets difficult to hold yourself as credible with this sort of thing.

tis interesting isnt it? after a while you'll find the music and stuff becoming less and less useful to a point where putting it on is no more than habbit. but also alot of people prefer the "active silence" of meditation music as opposed to the "actual silence" of, well, no sound. but depends on your area, like i live on a high-way, so the only time i get a chance to meditate with actual silence is really late at night.
as for the group thing, i also agree that you should try to know other people. The other guys in my head are excellent for conversation, but they dont compare with talking to someone else who i can bounce idead and thoeries off and allow them some of thier own, plus from the people you talk too you also learn of other branches of magic to give a bit of attention various practices and best of all, the personal methods.

Hah, at least your voices in your mind are helpful....mine are simply distracting and annoying! lol
I agree though. I've been teaching magick, and it is amazing seriously how much I am also a student to a student who then becomes my teacher....and now I sound like Dr.Seuss lol. But really, it's a two-way process, and I love it because it strenghthens the personal connection and also helps both people to learn new things or gain new perspectives....it never ever gets old because there is always something new.

they are only helpful if im not trying to do something else...the main problem is they never shut the f*ck up! so when i try to do silent meditation my thoughts rage something shocking.

i agree, it is most perplexing where you can learn from and also learning what those who are also seeking to learn creates a chained loop where perpetual knowledge is shared.
