Strange Vision

Postby Adularia » Sun Apr 22, 2007 7:54 am

I remember reading on this messageboard somewhere (although I cannot find the post anywhere!) someone posted about visualising a forest and path with a cottage at the end, and that when you walked along the path, got to the cottage and opened the door your spirit guide(s) would be inside and you could meet them... Anyway, I thought I would give this ago last night whilst about to go to sleep. I was in a forest with very tall trees and there was a long path in front of me, I started to proceed when all of a sudden before I could get to the cottage a small girl appeared blocking my path to the cottage...she was extremely frightning and had totally black eyes and silver hair. She was wearing a long grey dress which had long sleeves and was made of wool. I don't quite know how I knew it was made of wool, I just know it was! :) So I snapped out of it at that point and was 'awake' and left feeling miffed that I didn't even get to the cottage!

I was wondering how she was blocking the path and why appart from her looks you found her so frightening?

Hmm, interesting...

Was this a meditation or a dream? If it was a dream you did a cool job to get into the dream that you wanted to as we normally drift into something totally different or something along the lines of what we wanted to dream about but different in some way, normal things seem very weird, strange or distorted.

I love it when I drift into the dream I've been thinking about and wanted to go into.

PS: As scary as this little girl may have seemed, if I were you, I would try going back and meeting her again as it's likly she has got some sort of message for you. Might be interesting...???

She was stood in the middle of the path as if to stop me from going any further. She didn't move, but just looked at me..I found her looks scary but also i just felt frightened, something about her scared me. Nah it wasn't a dream, i started off trying to meditate and then drift off to sleep, i just put it under the dreams section cause i wasn't 100% sure where it should go! Perhaps I will give it another go tonight :D

The first thought that came into my head, was that the girl might have been your subconscious trying to warn you that you weren't ready for this yet... I don't know if that makes any sense though...

she sounds cool, though this sound very cliche, but do you think she is a part of you...sounds like a possibility?

Yeah I was thinking that yesterday, how she did sort of feel like a part of me. Once I'd gotten over the scary aspect of her, I did get the feeling that she was trying to warn me or help in some way... anyway, I haven't had a chance to try it again yet, I just fell asleep last night!

if given the chance, take her by the hand. And see where she leads you.

i like the "leap of faith" concept ;)

Adularia, you should read up on Shadows (not shadow people, I mean your shadow). Everyone has a part of them that they don't acknowledge or embodies aspects of themselves they are afraid of or don't like. Many people on our paths have to face their Shadow at some point in order to get to the next level or layer of enlightenment and ability. Your subconsious will always block you if you aren't ready. Personally, I think that might be her, and the fact that you see her might mean you are ready. Like Sobek says, take her by the hand or actually address her. See what happens. If you're really worried, work out some kind of 'escape' system beforehand (have you ever seen 'The Cell'? Think about the hand chips, only not so literal) so you can get out if you can't handle it.

Thanks Secree, I never thought about 'Shadows' before, I will do some reading.

I think this makes a lot of sense thinking about it. I have struggled with myself over the last couple of years...I kind of felt like something was blocking me, it's hard to explain...like i didn't feel whole. It's only over the last couple of months that this feeling has faded. I think maybe you're right about the girl, maybe she has come to tell me I am ready.

I will try this excercise again later and this time I will remain calm and see what happens. I've never seen the Cell, but I am sure I can hatch some kind of cunning escape plan just in case! :D

Well, the idea behind the escape plan is to have a reflex or something set up so that when you are scared or it's time to go you can use that as your safety line. In normal meditations you can come out easily. But if you're in a situation where you're scared or not thinking right (or in a worse case scenario being held or attacked) you can use that reflex (or preset symbol or visualization) as a way to grab on to reality, like a handrail or rope.

In the Cell, she had a device implanted into her hand so that when she was in the world of the Mind she touched her hand and it activated the device, bringing her out of her experiment. In reality you don't need that implant, you just need the reassurance that that reflex brings safety. I saw another version of it on Star Trek: Voyager (one of the 4 times I watched it lol) where the officer had to go into lucid dreaming of some sort. He decided to use a symbol of a full moon as his anchor to remind him that he was in a dream, and it gave him the control he needed. Granted it's just TV, but the concept does work.

This is very interesting! I am curious to know who the girl is & what she has to say. I wonder what's in the cottage . . .

Well, I did try this 'excercise' again a few weeks ago, the girl was there once again as before, but the only thing that was different was that there was a raven / black bird flying around. :? Which is a bit odd as I've a black bird of some type has been landing outside my window quite often over the past couple of weeks. Anyway I haven't tried this again yet but will let you know when I do and what happens! :D
How do 'Do Not Walk On The Grass' signs get there?

Do you think it was a crow or a raven?

Oh wait... you are in England, where the terms are well... muddled.

See, what an American would call a Raven would be called a Crow.

Just check out the Crow entry on the Wikipedia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crow

Compare with below....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Crow
(this is what I call a crow. Like the typical american, I say the world is wrong! *This* *is* *THE* *crow*!!!) :P
http://www.juneauempire.com/images/100602/crow.jpg (love this picture!)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrion_Crow

Here are some better pictures of the rook.

But I tend to obsess over large black birds. :D
