"I once read a scientific definition of 'Love' once.. I'll try and find it later. Needless to say, it's eye-roll-worthy . "
i hope you can track it down, im in need of a cheap laugh.
which planet are you?
Yep. then there's Quaoar[spelling?] and Sedna, two 'new' Planets/planetoids. Chiron,[ not Charon] is used by some astrologers too.Though I see the case for Charon, in a binary sense. I count Pluto, because it interferes with Neptune.lol. Ancient astrologers used the 7 visible planets, but counted 'fixed' stars as influential, something a lot of modern astrologers don't do.They were aware of unseen effects, but didn't know quite how to translate that. In modern astrology, the outer planets are considered 'generational' aspects and more to do with how the world affects the subject than how the subject affects the world. It gets more and more complex by the minute. I used to debate with myself about including the recently [ i.e. invisible to naked eye] discovered planets, but I figured once they are in our conscious awareness, they will have an effect of some sort, so go with it. lol again. Elem pointed out in another thread the differences between 'Solar' zodiac and 'Tropical' zodiac, quite rightly too as there are huge differences between the two. The sign of Ophicius[spelling again?] has been left out of modern interpretations, but, there is a good argument for the 13th sign. I haven't had time to research this yet, but now my attention has been drawn back to it, I 'll have to, as soon as I can grab some time. Talk about complicating things. I use the 'decanate' interpretations in natal charts for sun signs, that is - people born in the first ten days of a sign will carry qualities of the previous sign and those bang in the middle tend to be more typical of that sign, those at the end ten days carrying forward to the next sign. It is actually more complex than that, as the personal planets, Mercury,Venus and Mars will modify this yet again.LOLOLOLOLOL. oh dear! I take ages to do a chart. This I think may be a bit more in keeping with the 'Solar' style of things, even if I didn't know it, properly. Opichius is interesting, but I 've seen conflicting opinions on whether it fits in at Scorpio/Sagittarius, Sagittarius/Capricorn or Aquarius/Pisces. Further investigation is certainly warranted. I don't think Pluto should be discounted, as God of the underworld he 'moves in strange ways' ,another lol moment.
i know i give science alot of crap, but for the most part im actually quite fond of it. what pisses me off is when they try to "confirm" thoeries with other thoeries are they think up a bunch of 3 yr old quality crap about things that we can really know like nothing about then pass it off as fact...
oddly enough i got like 85 on my science exam in yr 10 lol dont know how that worked
"I never saw your post there Sobek, writing mine at the time"
i notice that seems to happen to you alot Geri

Haha, that's by far my 'favourite' part of it all.. It seems to happen in Physics quite a lot, i.e:what pisses me off is when they try to "confirm" thoeries with other thoeries
"Okay, so we've found this out.. But we don't know how to explain it as an equation.... However, if there was a CONSTANT in here somewhere, that conveniently made it add up to the right number... Right, yep, there we go. All fixed!"
How can you just 'invent' a constant to make something fit?

*shrug* Science. Gotta love it

Elem
Haha wow you seem quite an expert on this, Eretik. Thanks for the post, it was very thought-provoking and you seem very well informed. It's also amusing to see just how complicated things can get if you let them
.
Ophicius is an interesting concept, but like you say there seems to be varying opinion as to where it fits in.. Oh, and you did get the spelling right, don't worry
. Woah, sorry guys.. Just realised how off-topic I've kinda dragged this. Dammit, I'm always doing this haha.

Nope, still on topic Elem. It's very true that the 'constant' is something used to justify theories. A kind of 'fits all' type of thing. I remember at school, we got classic Physics, but some of us, questioned the gaps. At the time Quantum was really beginning to 'take off' and some of Newton and Einsteins theories were being re evaluated, as doubts were surfacing, in light of the new ideas. The age of the universe was the big thing then. The Hubble constant, would give the answers - ta dah! If it's low - expanding young universe, if it's high - old shrinking model. I recall the latest thinking is low, therefore young expanding universe - whew! relief, there's hope for us yet.lol. I walked away from it, in the end. I realise that most of it is subjective and the theories change every five minutes or so - I thought 'fer f*** sake, we are here , now, lets work on that first.' The past has happened already, so that is quantifiable, the present is changing as we speak and the future can be shaped in the now[as much as we can].That will do for me. I used to drive myself daft by thinking about the origins of everything, until I concluded that all I would get is madness and confusion.Life is too short, I had t ostop worrying and start doing. lol.
Wow, Eretik, I didn't know you did astrology quite that deeply. I'd love to have a discussion with you about it some time. I was rather into it for a while... I had this great teacher I've since lost touch with.
Those "experimental" aspects of astrology have always interested me, but you know, that's because arcane things appeal to me. I've also wanted to know more about ancient astrology or mediaeval astrology, just because... I even look up the biggest fixed stars just to see if they might have an effect...
However, my teacher always said that if it's TOO complex, it's not a good divination system, for you will never be able to get a standardized set of samples from which to draw conclusions and keep tabs on the veracity of your divination system.
I don't know why a planet can't interfere with the rotational pull of another planet. Isn't it enough to say it's revolving around the Sun in a regular way? Or to say that "Chiron/Pluto" are BOTH planets that happen to revolve around each other? <snark>

I 'd be happy to do that,Juniper, as long as I 've had my coffee.lol. I haven't cast a chart for some time. I fell out of the practice due to the multitudinous needs of my multitude of kids. A large family and the study of any serious subject are not compatible, sadly, most of the time. If it wasn't for the insomnia, I 'd get no study time at all. lol.
P.S. is it ok for me to call you Juniper? I like it and it is your first name[ of your username, I know] I love the scent of Juniper berries. If not I 'll stop.Geri.
