phase shifting

Postby Sobek » Wed Jul 04, 2007 8:48 am

before you criticise my title i know its from StarGate(and possibly many other sci-fi shows) but i couldnt think of a better title. plus it kind of applies

righto to get into it, sometimes when i work some particularly potent energies. it is my belief that i shift into the astral plane...its not a conscious thing it just happens and usually only lasts for a few seconds at a time. its good when it happens because its kind of like when i shift back it gives me a little kick or a booster or something(and you see some interesting things in those few seconds). but lately ive been really down so when i shift, it feels like i havent been completely coming back...kinda like im neither here nor there. and when im here it feels like ive left something important behind and kinda hollowish. im not entirely worried that im going to lose myself although i see that as a possibility, i am kind anchored here.

just wondering if this happens to anyone else, or they have similar experiences...

All the time, with me , Sobek. I find it happens a lot outside, I know when I 've hit a power point as I phase in and out with little control. I may find it a problem, when I go back to working, in the future. I guess I 'll have to work on 'control' - that may be difficult for me.

With me sometimes it does feel like I am not here or there like that after working with powerful energies. I just ground afterwards, but sometimes it takes a whiel for everything to get balaned again.

A good friend of mine once said that some people who've had problematic childhoods (abuse, etc) often slip their astral self half-way out of their bodies. It's a natural reaction so that they feel less pain, and it's easier to sense what's going on around them, using psychic channels for protection.

It also means that people who did this as a kid have a harder time grounding and being solidly in their bodies. One would especially feel a residual effect when you've been working with heavy hitting energies.

I too find that if I've been working with the Big Stuff, that getting back to ground and center can take longer than I'd like... even days.

Well, Juniper, you know what they say about us Shamanic types - one foot in each world, head in neither/both. LOL. Dissasociation syndrome [spelling?, my head is up my arse today!] is the'proper' name for it, I think - The childhood thing, that is. I am only half here most of the time, as I get older, I 'm 'there' more than here. My partner will often tell me I 've said something 'out of the blue' when I 'come back'. It always makes sense to me, but can be disconcerting for those around me. I get 'answers' that way. I go 'off' at the slightest provocation. I did learn this as a protective measure in childhood. These days tho' I have the ability to defend rather than dissasociate, but it stayed with me. I will have to work on it,if I am going to be among co -workers. Enough people think I 'm strange already, without me adding more.lol. I don't like touching people, I get 'flashes' and I don't like that. The people I touch are aware of it.Something passes between us.I frighten them. I don't like that at all.

I 've got a site here. The site is a women's health one, but the other pages listed on it are general and informative.

Nae worries Sobek,me too! Mental health is in it's infancy, the categories and definitions of disorders are changing almost daily - it will step out of the dark ages soon. 'Mind' is what brain does, disorder or sanity saving mental protection?
