So you want to be a police psychic
Psychicism is a skill that can be learned. First of all, you need to learn to focus your mind, to clear your mind, empty it so you can sense what is beyond your thoughts. Being distracted blocks out communications. There are literally hundreds of ways to do this. The only way to find out which works for you is to try as many as you can get your hands on. Googling for it is one good way, another would be to find a used book store and find books on the subject and start reading. A library is also a good resource... I have to admit the stuff I've found in books tends to be better in quality than what I find on line. Not sure why, maybe I'm just a snob.
However, I wish to voice a little caution. I have friends who work with the dead, and it's not an easy thing. Ghost Whisperer is for television, and they make it look a lot easier than it actually is. Do you really want to see what happens to a murder victim from his or her perspective? Do you really want to wake up one bright sunny morning with suicidal impulses that aren't actually yours? Do you really want your mind crowded with half formed questions and answers? Psychologically it is a lot like having PSTD... after having lived in a war zone. Oh, and you can't take medication for it! Fun stuff!
Like cops and the like, you get cases that never get solved. Sometimes just because you can't figure out what's going on through the garble, or no one talks to you at all. For that kind of work one must have a very uncluttered mind, so that you can tell the difference between your own wishes and thoughts and what you might actually be hearing on the OS. Believe me that's no easy thing, even with considerable experience.
Also, it's a lot more tedious than it looks. Doing research, talking to people and knowing how cops actually do their jobs is another part of that job. This means paperwork, and sorting through literally tons of information that may or may not be meaningless. And most of the stuff you get from your contacts is probably useless. Even the best psychics get mostly junk. You also have to know when to get out of the way of the people doing their jobs... which is most of the time.
Oh yeah, and a rock-firm conviction in your own sanity. That's the most vital of all.
Furthermore, it's not a meal-ticket. The friend of mine who does this lives with a roommate in a ratty apartment and mostly lives off of social security. She's disabled.
Talk about a romanticized job!

yes i know that it would be a very hard thing to do and i know that unless you do it for a show & you are wiling to let people know who you are that there is no money in it but for some reason i feel for this girl and i dont know why she means any thing to me apart from the fact she was very young and i have kids and feel for her parents .and as you said there is a lot of work involed .i would just like her case to be solved .but i would still like to have that type of insite just to help.i know what you said is right that type of life is hard unless you can handle it .and the shows on tv are nothing to what the real people that do it have to put up with .
