Ok.. so one of my good friends... his mother is wiccan, and well... when she talks about it on her myspace, she makes it sound like she is using it to scare people, but its not scary. I just think its wrong that she would try to make people afraid of her using witchcraft. People already tend to see it as this horrible evil thing, we don't need our own kind making it even harder on us. I dunno I just think its wrong. Anyone agree?

Of course, it gives people totally the wrong impression of Wicca and Witchcraft. I had a guy notice I was wearing a pentacle ring at a party, and he started asking me what it meant, as he knew nothing about Wicca or anything, and even he asked me if it was to do with Devil Worship. There are enough misconceptions about Wicca without people using it as a scare tactic. I totally agree with you about Wiccans themselves making it worse, that sort of thing just fuels stigma really.

I just can't understand her. She doesn't like me very much because her son (My friend) is moving in with me. Well, he currently lives 5 hours away, and while he is 20, she doesn't want to let him make his own decisions. She yells at him constantly telling him he is making mistakes and bad talking me. I've been very respectful to her. I always said please and thank you and left nice comments on her myspace and everything. Well, she apparently got mad enough to remove me from her myspace friends, and now I'm afraid she is going to go off on me when I go pick my friend up to move in with me. Aside from all that, I don't even know if she knows I'm wiccan. I mean, I did just start getting interested in this not too awful long ago. I dunno, Anyone have any suggestions for what I should do when I go pick my friend up?

I know how people like this can be. My last boyfriend was 20 when he moved out and moved in with me. His mom threw a HUGE fit over it and absolutely hated me. She called me many names, the usual being gothic, whore, and a witch. She had no clue I was Wiccan she decided I was a witch because I named one of my dogs Serena which I guess is the name of a witch on some old sitcom, go figure.

I warn you his mother will no doubt try to cause many problems for you guys to get her son back home. Some mothers just won't let go, it's a control issue.
