House Positions Question

Postby Elven555 » Thu Dec 20, 2007 5:03 am

My partner and I had our charts read and we have indenticle house positions (or Placidus).
How common is this and is it a good or a bad thing?
I really know nothing about these type of things, so I don't even know the significance of the house position.

Any insight is appreciated!!

Having the same ascendant is likely the reason why you got together in the first place. It indicates the same vibrational rhythm, which can be very attractive. My high school sweetheart of 5 years and I had our houses about 5 degrees off, and it created a blurring effect. The atrraction was compelling, but because of the blur we soon could not read each other at all. Having them exactly the same will help against this blurring effect. THe true distinctions between you will come from the planets themesleves; i.e. what houses they are in and what aspects to other bodies they create.

The houses are truly significant in chart, dear Elven--starting at the eastern horizon with the first house it can be read as a kind of life journey---the first 6 houses are quite personal and subjective and then from the 7th to the 12th the individual moves outward into the world. SO, generally, if there are a lot of planets in the lower part of the chart wheel, it is a subjective (perhaps selfish) life; if the majority of planets clump in the upper half of the chart wheel then it is a life much more worldly and about others. If the charts are spread out somewhat evenly between the lower and upper portions of the chart then it indicates a well balanced life between self and the world of others. Note: this is the most general way to look at the houses;

Each House has various particular meanings, rulerships and elemental properties. Here is a VERY BRIEF list (and others can and perhaps should add to it what they will):

Ascendant/1st House

The raw self; physical appearance; overall outlook on life; life force energy, the Root Chakra, ruled by Ares and Mars, element of Fire. Keywords: I AM!!!

**General Note:(So if your ascendant is in Leo, for example, then you must mix Leo descriptions with Ares/Mars descriptions--astrology is little more than the BLENDING of meanings, like an alchemist or the Temperance Card in the Tarot)

Second House
If the first House is the primal call of the I AM, then the second house takes this further. It is a house of values, possessions and depicts the self's relation toward those possessions. But, it is also about ethics and how one conducts one's life according to their vices and virtues. It is ruled by Taurus and Venus; element of Earth; Root Chakra, Sacral Chakra and Solar Plexus Chakra= I AM, I desire, I manifest; Keywords= I HAVE

Third House

This is what the self says and how the self moves. It is a restless house and can show areas of nervous energy and overly chatty or shy natures and even depicts how one dances. It also represents the native's appraoches to everyday travels and errands--if you are a notoriously bad driver and erratic shopper, there may be fire planets in this House. But, most generally it is the house of communication. So, from the first house we go from the I AM to the I HAVE and arrive at the I SPEAK. This house it ruled by Gemini and Mercury; the element of Air; covers the Throat Chakra mixed with the Solar Plexus chakra (I manifest words, images and sounds). Keyword: I SPEAK

The Fourth House

This watery House is about the past--it is one's deepest psychological base and reveals early childhood family life, relation to parents, insecurities and the way one protects themselves from those insecurites. It is a rather deep and inarticulate house and many many meanings can be drawn from the sign or planetary placements here. It is known as the House of the Parent. It is ruled by Cancer and the Moon; the Heart Chakra and Sacral Chakra (both are "flow" chakras); Element of Water; Keywords: I NURTURE

The Fifth House
a.k.a the Fun House. It is a house of creativity and vision, one's tendencies toward playfulness, romance, gambling and FUN. It also represents one's children or childlike nature as well as love affairs. Most importantly it is about one's creations on the earth, whether they are through children, lovers, art or science, this house depicts the ways toward the creative spirit. It is ruled by Leo and the Sun; element of Fire; Solar Plexus Chakra, Throat Chakra and Third Eye Chakra; Keywords: I CREATE

The Sixth House
This is the house of industriousness and service in the everyday. One who nurtures and creates has to serve those creations, so it is a house of service at a physical and practical level. It is about everyday health matters, hygeine, food preparation etc; Yet, it also represents the way one appraoches their everyday work. It is ruled by Virgo and Mercury; element of Earth; Root Chakra, Solar Plexus Chakra, Crown Chakra; Keyword: I WORK

The Seventh House
Here we leave the world of the self and enter into the realm of relationship. The 7th House is about partnership and how one approached that area. It is more about one-to-one partnerships, so it governs spousal relations, relationship to the boss, the teacher, the sibling, the parent, the best friend, the boy/girlfriend. It can be considered the House of Love. It is ruled by Libra and Venus; element of air; Heart Chakra; it is the transition from "I RELATE" to its true keywords: WE ARE

The Eight House

This is another watery and sometimes dark house. It covers areas of deep sexual desire, the will toward (or against) other people's values and possessions, death and ressurection, and simply represents the otherness of the other.
Death and taxes fall into this house and so does sex and fetishes surrounding this theme. It is a house where other people's values may impose on your own, or you will at least be unfamiliar and perhaps resistant to others. There is deep desire, fear and repulsion all entwined in this house. It is often called the House of Death. It is ruled by Scorpio and Pluto; element of Water; Sacral chakra, Solar Plexus Chakra and Third Eye Chakra; It can say, You are other, or We Die, but it is the area in the house system (following the basic housing interpretation as a life-cycle of ego formation and dissolution) where the self realizes that others are different and value different things--a key step in the dissolution of the ego. I would say the Keywords for this one emphasize the "You": YOU HAVE or YOU ARE OTHER

9th House
The House of Prophecy. It is about the native's relation to international languages, higher education, religion, morals, higher laws. It is a house of higher ideas and ideals where the otherness of people can band together under great abstract stories, laws or codes. It represnets international travel, airplanes etc and also university education. There is a mystical quality born here (but not really culminating until the 11th and 12th houses). There can be great prophetic insights and represents the future in general--it can indicate where the self is going and what the self learns, but it is a house that is less conerned with the self and more concerned with community and higher values, religions and philosophies. It is ruled by Sagittarius and Jupiter so it is about learning, teaching and expanding horizons. Element of Fire; Third Eye Chakra; Keywords: We Learn

10th House

This one is the zenith of the chart. It represents one's crowning achievements and how they are viewed by the public at large. It is the house of Career and public reputation. It is also the culmination of the ego's formation and its recognition by the world. One's career (in its most general sense) can be depicted in the signs that govern the house. The 10th can be concerned with wealth and refinement of the ego. But, overall it is the goal's set by the ego and how it goes about attaining those goals. It is ruled by Capricorn and Saturn; element Earth; Crown Chakra, Solar Plexus Chakra; keywords: MY STATUS / MY REPUTATION / MY GOALS

11th House

This house is the first step away from the culmination of the 10th and the ego begins to break down and seek out someting much greater than its own status. It is about absorbing and merging into higher relams of mysticism, but at a more practical earthy level is is about merging into groups and associations for a higher cause than personal gain. It is a mystical house by nature and can have lightening-like insights and technological advances associated with it. Opposite the Fifth, it represents other people's children and one's way of relating to them. It is a house of co-creation--we create through OUR communion. It also represents collective dreams and visions. It is ruled by Aquarius and Uranus; element of air; Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra, Third Eye Chakra;
Keywords: WE ASSOCIATE

the Twelfth House

This is the end of the ego--it is dissolved into the collective unconscious and this house is by far the hardest to interpret (as are the other water houses). It is also the house of service, but not at the worldly level but, rather, at a spiritual level. It is the house of surrender to the higher power. In the 11th we sought that which was bigger than the ego, in the 12th, the ego surrenders to that higher power. It is a house of fantasy, dreamy uncosncious, deep mortal fears, wishes for the collective future, and, above all, the connection(s) to the Divine. Some could call this the Nun House (or even the None house--since it is so nebulous). Others call it the House of God. It is ruled by Pisces and Neptune; element of Water; Crown Chakra, Soulstar Chakra, Earthstar Chakra and other Etheric Chakras above the head; The Keywords for this one are tough to sort out but I would say that there are two or three keywords to help: the first is a question: "I?", the second is the answer at the same time as the question--I AM NOT: the thrid is about the entire lifecycle including self and others: WE ABSORB (into Spirt)

There is alot more to be said about each house but hopefully these general characteristics give a better understanding of how to read your chart(s).

Elven, Your partnership should be okay as long as there are enough differences between you to keep it lively.

Blessings,
bsp
