ghost stories

For conversations and questions about hauntings and spirit visitations. This is not the place to talk about demons. In fact, this whole board isn't the place for it. A Christian site is a better place for that.

she did't say anything and i did't as well i froz .i keep't saying to myself that she was not there i would close my eyes and then open and she was still there i did that two times and when i opened my eye the secord time she was gone but i had to walk down and check to see if she was out of my house but my legs did't wont to work they where stuck .but i got over it and i had a look around and checked the doors and windows and they where all locked so i guess she was checking to make sure i was ok i dont know who she was but i guess oneday i will find out . :?

Sorry to say, I haven't seen that one. One of the courses I'm taking though is "Horror" and we're both reading alot of horror (vampire, ghost, demon) stories and watching alot of movies, so who knows if maybe the teacher will put it in there. I doubt it though, since classes are almost over. I watched An American Haunting though, and did an essay on it, as well as Silent Hill and Fatal Frame 2, that was the ghost-part essay of the course, the topics are "youth in horror stories" "ghosts" "vampires" and "Serial killers".

But if you're interrested in movies about ghosts (and doppelgangers) here's a little list of my favourites (non-horror movies not included).

Ringu 0
Ringu
Ringu 2
The Grudge
Silent Hill
An American Haunting
Ghost Story
(The Gathering)
Godsend
A Tale Of Two Sisters
Dark Water (Japanese version)

Those are the movies I recommend, but of course if you're interrested in computer games as well as ghost stories, I recommend the Fatal Frame series for those who live in America, for Europeans it's the Project Zero series (same games, different names) especially the second one (first was a little too hard for me personally so I never got to finish it and get the complete story and the third was a bit of a letdown, not much, but a little).

My own spirit/ghost story i guess you can call it.
first a little history:I went to college at Benedictine College in Atchison, Ks. Atchison is known to be haunted random stories. And there were tales about ghost incidents on campus. At first i didnt believe any of it. Until one day.
In the dorm i lived in, it was supposed to be haunted by previous nuns or something along that line.
One day I was riding the elevator in the dorm and mind you, you pass each floor and you dont hear anyone outside the elevator as your riding up. But i was riding up to the 4th floor by myself in the elevator and around the 2nd floor I heard a young woman's voice singing softly. at first i was like what? and i listened closer and kept hearing the singing all i could make out was something about a river. It was really odd and kind of weirded me out. Still to this day I wonder about it.

Oh goodness... this is going to be long!

I do wonder if spirits are more attracted to people who can perceive them or something, as I haven't lived in a place which wasn't inhabited by something... other than a college dorm room. Once I had a place which had a non-disruptive presence which felt friendly, but other than that... something has happened everywhere I lived. (Unless I was just picking up on positive energy which was left behind.)

First house I don't remember anything, as we moved when I was 3, but the next house had a lot of strange goings ons that my mother explained as it just being an old house. After we moved from there, and I mentioned the things going on at the new house, she told me that the old house WAS "haunted". Basically at house #1, things would come on by themselves occasionally, you might hear footsteps upstairs, toys having a mind of their own. It wasn't constant, but it was enough. My mom said what really got her was when my record player started playing on it's own right after we moved in.

Here, the experiences have been the same... nothing that will make you wet yourself, but enough to make your jar drop. Things coming on and off, an opened door closed, closed door opened. (Something in the basement loves our dryer.) Things falling in different rooms of the house at the same time the first few years of being here. A ball rolling back and forth on it's own across the floor. And my personal favorite, my stereo coming on full blast to pure static. And then there's the TV coming on or switch channels, but that wasn't as freaky.

Now the scary stuff...

My second apartment... had a lot of relics from some Mexican war (or at least that's what I was told.) It was a mansion with a number of converted apartments. Very old, and my bedroom had HUGE beautiful wooden double doors. One night... I hear someone walking outside of my door. I stay quiet, and then eventually ask who is there... thinking someone broke in or something. And then the doors start opening and closing rapidly. Now these are heavy doors, and even the strongest of wind wouldn't have been able to do what was going on with those doors. This went on for a full minute at least. Soon as it stopped... I got up... went to a friends house... and started looking for a new place to stay! That was by far the worst experience I've had.

The next one was in my third apartment, a condo I was renting. Now I don't know if this qualifies as a "ghost" story, but it's close enough. One morning, I woke up from a creepy dream and see a man's shadow on the door of the bedroom across from mine. I look at it for a while, just making sure I'm awake... realized I was awake, and asked who was there. Now there's no way for someone to cast that shadow in that place from outside. Third floor apartment, locked bar gate thing on the door... no way to sneak in and out. But I thought one of my friends broke into my place or something. So I got up and looked around, saw no one... ran to a friends house. Next morning... same thing happened, but that time I watched a little while longer while sitting in bed. Both times, when I asked who was there... it moved away, as if someone was casting a shadow and walked out of the direct light. One time it looked to be drinking something, another time it looked to be smoking a cigarette. I said this might not be a "ghost" story, as it sounds more like a shadow being. But whatever it was, it was creepy. However, there was never any other paranormal movement in that place, or strange feelings, etc etc. The place felt surprisingly clean.

Both times I searched the place top and bottom... no one was there... nothing was open or unlocked... and yeah. I moved from there shortly after as well.

The creepiest thing to happen here wasn't something that was naturally occurring, but rather thanks to naughty neighbors... conjuring spirits! The house didn't feel right, and so I got the dragon's blood one night and started walking through the house. For no reason, my oldest son (who wasn't talking very well at the time) became very upset and told me that he was scared. Which scared me! But I tried to call him down, got him to go back to bed... and then he started changing "I want. Some more. Dead." Over and over again. Just recently I was told that it was the neighbors, but I thought it was the Dragon's Blood. Nevertheless, I haven't burned any of it since. I put out the dragon's blood and went through the place with sage and salt water. That was almost as scary as the possessed doors!

it seems that all this activity stayed in the bedroom. even when I walk by the room and look in I can see them standing around. the last night that we slept in the bedroom I had a nightmare and I was sleepwalking for about an hour. My boyfriend said I was walking around saying there were shadow people in the room. he said I went out into the living room and grabbed my quartz crystals and circled them around the bed, he said I even had my athame in my hand. then I got up to look out the balcony door and my sword that I set against the closed bedroom door for some reason, it slid for somehow and my boyfriend said I screamed. he said this happened a little after 3 in the morning.
It's interesting that you say you had a nightmare, though it's probably unrelated to mine. The night before I saw the one in my old apartment, I had a nightmare as well. Actually, I had a number of weird dreams while I was living there, a couple of them pretty scary. What's odd to me is that I never *felt* any odd sensations or got the feeling that someone or something else was there other than those two encounters.

But the dream I had before I saw the shadow the first time... was sort of like something out of Devil's Advocate... at least I should say the room I was in reminded me of an office from that movie. And I was laying on a leather couch or something, inside this room in front of the fire place. This man opened the door... in a suit lol... sort of like that movie also. I raised my head, told him to go back to hell, he left, and I put my head back down. And after that I woke up.

It was super short, and obviously very creepy... especially as I woke up that morning to a shadow! SO, I didn't even believe what I was seeing at first, and I probably wouldn't have thought much of it again if I hadn't seen it the next morning.

10 years ago I was taking a nap at my old house when I heard a voice say my child I got up thinking it was my mom but she was out side. So when I went out I looked up at our tree in the yard and saw a shadow flying from from it chanting and then disapeard.

Although I tend to scare easily, my first reaction is just to freeze and watch when I've had odd things happen. But the shadow, when I saw it and where it was... especially with it being day time... AND I had never even heard of such a thing as a "shadow being"... I didn't think it was anything ghostly until I didn't see anyone in my apartment. Even then I wasn't 100% sure that I wasn't half sleep until I saw it again. The second time I sat up in bed for probably a full minute looking at the thing before as asked who was there. It didn't make a lot of sense to me, as I thought "ghosts" were supposed to be more 3 dimensional... sheer and with old clothes or something. (hehehe)

And as freaky as it was, it's still not as scary as the stories I've heard of people feeling something grab them, being unable to open a door, etc. A friend of mine was a bit skeptical about the shadow beings, until he came across one at his exgirlfriend's house. His was a little more aggressive or something, as he said it came towards him. THAT probably would make me wet myself.

MVTirado I had some strange stuff happen to me, if you scroll back to the beginning posts you'll read my posts on having something pressing on me, I was half asleep, half awake and as I realised I couldn't move I started to wake myself and its weird the only thing I could do was growl, yes like a dog warning something off,
each time I did that it would back off. It would only happen when I didn't sleep with my moon pendant on.

Never came near me when I had it on, that was scary at first but then I got used to it, wore my pendant when I wanted to be alone and sleep,
took it off when I was testing it to see if it still happened, it did, not happened since my dad died and I moved. :)

I'll have to start doing my third eye spells again.

Xzavier if you manage to recall what it was or sounded like let me know, it's interesting, I know I'm odd

Yeah, I've heard a lot of stories of people being unable to move or related matter where they felt they were being held down or something was sitting on them. And other than sleep paralysis, I haven't had such an experience. I'm sure it would creep me out though (and make it hard for me to go to sleep).

I don't know why this reminded me of when I was little I would feel something pulling my legs while I slept. My mom said I was just dreaming, and that could have been the case, as I don't recall it ever happening while I was awake. I'm not sure why lol but what you said just reminded me of that. Interestingly enough, I never experienced that anywhere else. (Also, I would sleep walk when I lived there for some reason.)

This is just something else which makes me wonder how I will explain the "paranormal" to my children... :?
