I actually did trop out of HS becuse I have terrible panic attacks. I got my GED and soon am off to go to college. I recomment you get a GED too, since if you get a job you will be paid more and there will be more jobs open to you since most good careers need a HS diploma or a GED.
Since I got the GED I am done with school and all my friends are still seniors

Thanks for the advice
I think things are more or less sorted out now, when i focused on writing i decided to hold off the job hunt or anything of the sort. But now it seems someones found what i think is a kind of apprenticeship. i'll probably get to work finding a worthwhile job to pay for me to leave home when i hit 18

I had a lot of friends who dropped out of HS at a young age. Most of them went for a GED, most did not pass and aren't doing so well, HOWEVER there are a few who are doing wonderfully, and say it was all because of Jobcorps. Might be something to concider.

ok so,
I skimmed this thread before I joined, BUT..
I am now 20, dropped out when I was 17, and moved in with my boyfrieind.
Sounds fun right?.. no.
I dropped out, mainly because I pissed around too much in highschool. my junior year I had 4 credits (had to have 28 to graduate). not only was I so ridiculously far behind in the work, i simply found no want or need for that "education".
I am a relatively bright young woman, I was then too. In fact thats half the reason I never paid attention in school. its simply wasn't engaging enough. so dont let that stereotype of "only underachieving dumbasses dont graduate".. its BS.
about 4 months after I dropped I went and got my GED. in the meantime, I worked at a local horse farm. at that time I was going after my own thing anyway, so the whole drop out thing was just a bump in my road.
point being, DO NOT drop, unless you have a real -set- plan. you cant just say " oh its too hard, i'm dropping out".. then your left looking like the rest of those suckers who gave up.
Dont let people tell you that without your highschool diploma you cant make a good wage.
I'm earning $25.00 hr right now at ONE of the jobs I work. (yes, I have two). I earn bookoo bucks.. but thats because I MAKE myself, and I push to be successful in life.
the plain fact of the matter is, you really need to be goal oriented to create your own path.. and that is pretty much whats required of you should you drop out.
hope this dosent sound too harsh

I'd love to know how you're doing! You sound a lot like I was at 17 - not sure which direction to go in and desperate to move away from home!
Whatever you do, give it 100%. Hopefully, you're working full time at the minute and saving cash for a rainy day?

I'm doing fine
happier now than I was in school at least lol At the moment I'm not working, instead taking what time I can to write, who knows that might lead to money. I was thinking of looking for work when I hit 18 (i dunno why) I have been saving up got about £157 with about another £50 my parents owe me
because I don't go out with "mates" to get drunk, and don't have a girlfriend to spend it on, i'm only gaining money with no losses

please, please go back to school if you can. trust me the feeling of having your diploma is amazing. i know its hard. i hated school. and my grades wern't great, but i did it. and now i dont ever have to go back if i dont want to. i only graduated last year. and now im pushing all my friends who are still in high school to make sure they finnish. at the very least get your ged. if not, you should at least find a trade school or something where you can make a decent living, doing something you enjoy. you dont want to be in fast food or retail the rest of your life. i worked at mcdonalds for 3 years in high school that was one motivaitor to get me to finnish. i didnt wanna be at a place like that forever. at the least, i can say i have my diploma. too many of my friends dropped out. this was before i knew them, or i'd of been busting their ass too. they're almost too old now to get their ged, cuz once you turn like 21 or 22 you can't go back to get it. if nothing else, at least get a job somewhere until you figure out what you want to do.best of luck. sorry if it sounded like im parenting you. im just very passionate about this kind of thing.
peace and love and blessed be
