A traditional Japanese healing art based on Chinese Buddhist teachings that consists of incorporating sacred symbols with touch therapy. It has a direct lineage and one can only gain the craft by being attuned by a reiki teacher. Once attuned, ones hands become very different--in short, they are hands that heal. They get hot and can sense out areas on bodies that need work. But, I find reiki most effective for mind and emotions--it can really help with karma and psychological issues. It was "discovered" by Dr. Usui in Tokyo about 150 years ago, but the symbols and arts involved extend back to ancient China. Usui was best friends with Funikoshi, the inventor of karate-do, which most reiki people overlook. It was developed in conjunction with the war arts. . .it is warriors who heal!!! I could go on and on abotu this history, but all I can say is that Usui was given a great gift that he has shared with the world as life becomes way more full and complete after incorporating reiki into your everyday life. But, of course, capitalism takes over in the West and now there are so many reiki "masters" who charge ridiculous amounts for this wonderful gift. . .The best thing about reiki is that it cannot really cause any harm, as it is an art that only heals, supports and assists. Some people are "naturals" in the sense that they can perform physical miracles with reiki energy, like completely removing a cancer growth, but many people use it to enhance their own well being and those of their loved ones. In my experience, most people want to try it and pay to get their first attunement and then do absolutely nothing with it other than say. . "oh, I know reiki. . " These types drive me nuts!!! Like any craft or art, it requires dedication, practice, discipline and time to germinate. It is more than a kind of healing, it is a way of life. . .Hope this helps. . .

That's kind of funny. I was about to ask about healing on here. I have an injury that needed surgery a few months ago, and healing is coming kind of strangely.
