In my opinion, of course you are! I'm 16 too and I'm kind of in the same mess. My parents are uneasy with it, but aren't exactly forbidding me to do it. What I do is study the religon and learn everything I can so when I'm free to do my rituals, I can :D ! Just keep at it, you'll always be a Witch at heart.

You are what you believe in your heart. If you can go out in the woods alone, or to a park or sit quietly in the garden, or even your room and write simple prayers and blessings to the God and Goddess, then there is no need for ritual at this time. Use this time to study and read what you can on the internet, or if you can get books, listen, and take it all in. Be an example for your parents of what your religion means to you, a peaceful loving spirit of respect and kindness and maybe by living that example, their minds will change sooner. If not, you certainly haven't wasted any time by listening, learning and living your religion in your heart. Simple spells do not require lavish ceremony. Write your own using what you have and what you can do. The Goddess knows your heart. The witch makes the spell/ritual...not the other way around.

I have to say I agree with EarthWitch. Take your time and take in everything you can, and the rest will come in time.

I know waiting can be difficult, but it will be worth it, if this is what is truly in your heart.

EarthWitch and WitchMomma said it perfectly. I am turning 16 in April, but I'm lucky. I was blessed with a mother that, though she worries, because she is Baptist, will let me do what I feel is right. (Though, I'm not Wiccan, I just consider myself an Eclectic Witch.)

But I do understand how you feel, and if you ever need to talk, just send me a pm.

I know this is an older post but I thought it was worth adding my two cents....

If you like to draw, does that make you an architech.
No, you need to attend school, become accredited and become a member of that society.

If you believe in Christ, does that make you a Chatholic?
No, you may be a Christian, but to become a Chatholic you need to study the ways of the church, be accepted by the church and be baptised into that faith. They even give you a certificate!

The same is true with Wicca. It is an established religion that requires you to study the tradition of that order you wish to join, be accepted by that tradition and be initiated into that coven.
You should also understand that not all Wiccians are witches. Many do not do spell work at all.
Wicca is not turning your back on the dogma of the church, rather it is dogma based on a different set of beliefs.

Without that process you are a pagan that shares some of the ideas of wicca as you have been expossed to them, But you are not Wiccian.

It's become very easy for people to read half a dozen books, to take a bit of this and a bit of that because it feels right, and declair themselves a wiccian. Even to the point of doing a self dedication.
But in my view, your still not a wiccian. After all, can a man read the bible, self dedicate himself to God and walk into a church and declair himself a priest?
I know people will say (and I have said it as well) that lables mean very little. True, unless you EARNED that lable and hold it as something meaningful and important.

I know this will not put a stop to it, but I just needed to vent a tad.
Just real tired of the....Hi my name is Buffy, I'm 13 and I've been wicca now for 6 weeks.........urggggggg!
The mind is a window to the universe, but for many the window is closed
Truth is unique, it seldom has meaning for anyone other than the one who speaks it.
My opinion is my own. I am willing to share it, though you are not required to accept it.

we're getting serious here...

no worries your time will come. as they say you are still so young to get involve and parents are always too concern with their children, what they might have been doing, who they are talking, etc, etc. perhaps you can calll it over protectiveness. it has nothing to do with the belief, the ritual or the sacredness of the traditions but on what they think "will happen next.." which they are scared off

to quote watershed in one of his responses regarding skyclad
"Back in the 70's I was involved with a coven that worked skyclad. After the rituals, instead of cakes and tea we had sex. I've read that when Gardner lead "The Grand Rite" it ended in a sex fest." this shows a very realistic description of the situation which could have induced such fear...

try to be understanding with your parents...for they are too old to understand! (joke)

I know it's a few months cold as far as threads go, but I do have to chime in here.

I'm a parent and a 35 year old Wiccan Eclectic. Parents are always going to worry about their kids and yes, we haven't had exactly the greatest of press over the years so naturaly, they are going to worry about what you are doing and performing. Don't begrudge them their concern for you.

Yes you are a true Wiccan, even if you've never performed a single ritual. I doesn't matter what you claim as your faith, it doesn't matter by what name, gender, numerical amount or by ritual or formulae that you use to commune with the almighty(ies)

It only matters taht you truely believe in what you say you believe. If Wicca is what you believe in your heart, than kiddo, you're a Wiccan, tried and true.

Always remember that Religeon is not as important as faith.

Blessed Be and good days.

WW.
The greatest advice I was ever given: It matters not what you believe. Only that you believe it wholeheartedly.
